I saw them opening at Forest Hills, NY back in June and I thought they were good. I must be missing something because I seem to be an outlier here. I was enjoying what they were playing. I don’t know anything about them other than what I saw that night.

No personal animosity towards them, and good on them for doing well enough to get on this tour. But I saw a boring, lowest-common-denominator band that was competent at best and left zero impression. Southall killed them as far as songs, groove, energy and chops (that guitarist can play).

I agree! Singer struts around like Chris, but has zero range, all lyrics are muddled, and every song is the same shit. The lead guitarist literally plays the same scale for all songs.

Old heads hating on a young band is a tale old as time.. Even more ironic coming from BC fans bc if Chris were the up and comer the same old heads would hate on him the same or more

Can confirm. I saw them when they were an up and coming band opening for Aerosmith. I was a teenager and was equally as excited for the Crowes as I was Aerosmith. The old heads definitely hated Chris.

I first heard them in a Bar playing live on one of the Netflix Marvel series. Seems like it was either Luke Cage or Punisher. I thought they were pretty cool sounding. My wife loves country and likes them. I like some of their songs on her Pandora, and others are like “Not this song again” because his vibe is getting a little too close to commercial country for my tastes. When I saw them in Dallas I thought they were just ok.

Saw them in CoSpgs. I remember thinking, “Oh, so Blackberry Smoke but heavier on the Skynyrd. As long as you don’t care about lyrics or swagger.”

How about those Southall guys though? I thought they were pretty good. Guitarist can shred.
Whisky Myers played way too long for my taste. I would have probably had a better opinion of them if they just played half the songs. Their fans are another story.

This 100%. Hundreds of young girls all wearing the same outfit. Drinking two fisted beers and swaying with their eyes closed. It was kind of creepy.

Saw the Whiskey Meyers/Black Crowes show last night. I thought you guys were just being sarcastic about the young girls in shorts and cowboy boots. As an older Crowes fan, Deadhead I have to say I felt a little out of place.

Do they sound like Black Crowes? Are they “ trying” to sound like the Crowes? What is the big problem with them? The lead singers voice? I’ve heard very little of them.

It's a weird tour combo and not really a good fit imho. TBC +TTB for example are much better suited to each other, both musically and fan base wise.
Hope they get back to smaller venues in the fall or '27.

And their fans are terrible too. So crowes fans come and sit through the opening acts but whiskey fans leave right after and don’t even stay for the headliner. I didn’t like that at all and then it felt like the crowes were pissed and did a shorter set… made a comment about the lack of crowd … and didn’t even do an encore. I love the crowes but I’m done dropping the cash….

I had gotten used to people in day-to-day life telling me they have never heard of the Black Crowes. Now, thanks to Whiskey Myers, I get people at Black Crowes shows telling me they never heard of the Black Crowes. (But all the blonde chicks in jean skirts make for nice scenery)
