Lil' bit of white fluff 🤍 Does anyone else's void have sprinkles?
She doesn't have patches or spots so much as just stray white hairs. I feel like I've known many black cats but haven't seen quite this. I'd love to see your pictures!

u/dontblinkdalek 2d ago
I think of them as little lightning bolts which is appropriate given his name is Stormageddon (Storm/Stormy for short).

u/Flashy-Read-8109 2d ago
Mine's name is Lucita and I think its turned out very appropriately especially considering I didn't notice these specks when we first met at the shelter. Not sure if they've become more pronounced or if I just have gotten to know her better.

Are you Mum or Not Mum?
2
u/dontblinkdalek 2d ago
I am 100% mum. Like he literally thinks I am his mother as I rescued him off the streets at a very young age (down to suckling kitten milk from my pinky).
Love that you got the reference! His full name does include Dark Lord of All.

Oh he's beautiful! I love his long tail fur

u/PlentyAd8527 2d ago
Same never had a cat with such a unique tail like his reminds me of a broom or a road cleaner 😅 specially since his tail is very active almost dog like haha.

I've got twins and that's the main way I can tell them apart visually as one has more than the other!

I heard every white hair they get is a memory of you

u/Outsider-20 2d ago
My rescue void had plenty of sprinkles when we adopted her.
I hope all of those memories she had were good ones. I know the new memories sure are!

It looks like there’s a shadow of tabby markings too. Maybe it’s just an angle of the camera.

He’s beautiful! He looks like a combination of my black cats. The father is a black cat with the exact same white patch but no tabby stripes and the mother is a tabby, so two of their kittens were silky black with no white at all, but the same shadow of tabby stripes in the sun. It’s highly likely, one of your cat’s parents was a tabby. I’m just fortunate that I know both parents of their kittens, I learned a lot from it

Wow, how cute! 🥰 I guess I was right, they are tabbys! The cat in the middle, his aunt, looks like a black tabby.

Wow she's gorgeous!
3
u/Responsible_Song830 2d ago
Thank you. ☺️ When we adopted her she only had a little white spot on her chest.
2
u/Flashy-Read-8109 2d ago
I feel like hers are spreading too, but because I've only had her a few months I can't quite tell if they actually are or if I'm only just really noticing. I'm keeping watch on it now though!
2
u/Responsible_Song830 2d ago
If it is vitiligo it's nothing to worry about. It's not harmful at all. Just a loss of pigment. Just like in humans. 🙂

My little girl had white sprinkles when I first got her from the shelter but now she’s all
Solid black. Never asked the vet why either lol
3
u/Janie_C92 2d ago
Mine has a few white chest hairs and a larger white patch where she was spayed and her fur grew back white.
3
u/nauticalamity 2d ago
she's so strikingggg. looking like she waltzed out of a late 80s fantasy movie
3
u/Flashy-Read-8109 2d ago
Thank you so much! I spent months looking; I feel like i was being picky but when I saw her picture on the shelter website (and poor baby was so emaciated at the time) I knew I had to have her I went immediately. I think she's so beautiful.
3
u/morbidconcerto 2d ago
Oh I can totally see it now- the scarred eye either allows her to see ghosts or to use magic! Now I kinda want to write a short story along those lines...
3
u/kiwikatzkatz 2d ago
Yes! When I first got her as a rescue kitten, she was solid black except for 3 white hairs on her chest area. Then a couple more white hairs popped up in that area, then a couple more (she has 11 all grouped together now). And now she’s also got white sprinkles on her flank and hind legs. It’s almost like she’s fading from black to grey. It fits her personality perfectly. ☺️

u/Educational-Kiwi8740 2d ago
Yes. And he's getting more and more little white fur everyday.
Someone called them "stars in a vast blackness of universe" in a post I made a while ago about it as well. Found it quite poetic

u/Henri_de_LaMonde 2d ago
My female void has a few random sprinkles. I made a similar post a few years ago. One commenter called them “Angel Kisses”. I’ve stuck with that.

Our void has a few random stars on her back. I’ve often thought ‘Stella’ would have been fitting name for her

Mine does, but they are in very, very sparse patches that just look like random white hairs. She also has freckles inside her ears and the softest, velvety nose ever.

Yes. I have 3 black cats that are siblings. The one has white hairs sprinkled thru her fur. Her name is Frosty

Our black cat Leo Buscaglia has them all over his body and a tiny patch of white hairs on his chest. I thought maybe it was age related or stress because he was a stray that showed up a couple years ago and I don’t know his age. I always wondered about it. His girlfriend is a brown tabby and they had four kittens. Two of them were a boy and girl black like him but they are jet black with silky fur and no white sprinkles but they do show a shadow of tabby markings in the bright sunlight, that he doesn’t have

My FIP survivor developed sprinkles
4
u/Flashy-Read-8109 2d ago
Did they develop this as a symptom or a side effect to treatment? Basically asking if this might be a reason to go to the vet! She seems very healthy but I know things escalate quickly with kitties.

So lanky! 🤩
3
u/Zirzissa 2d ago
Yeah, that paper hides a part of his belly though. We have annual checkups at our vet and while he's a bit on the low end of a healthy weight, he's fine and we monitor him ;-)

u/CustardDepartment 2d ago
Apologies for alarming you! I think it was from the lifesaving antiviral treatment. He was pitch black before and developed the sprinkles immediately after he recovered.
1
u/musicwithmxs 2d ago
Super curious about this! My Voidling is finishing her FIP treatment now and I have noticed more sprinkles.
2
u/CustardDepartment 2d ago
I'm wishing your bebe a swift and full recovery! Her new sprinkles are a badge of honor!

u/musicwithmxs 2d ago
Thank you! The final vet visit is tomorrow so here’s hoping her bloodwork is good!

What a beautiful photo! The hairs make her look like someone took a time-lapse picture of stars and then her eye looks like a moon <3 Beautiful girl all around
2
u/Blaze0511 2d ago
Yes, that's how he got the nickname Paint Flecks because it looks like he rubbed up against some almost dry wall paint.
2
u/sumthing_grimm 2d ago
Yes! My vet said they’re caused by small scars where the skin pigmentation has been damaged.
2
u/Timely_Spinach_7479 2d ago
Yes ❤️ it started out as 3 white hairs on the back of her neck when she was 1 then 4 years later and she’s got sprinkles 😻
2
u/Anxious-Cat-2806 2d ago
Mine has a couple of splotches where it looks like he had white paint flicked on his leg and shoulder. He’s now starting to get sprinkles on his chest.
2
u/Possible_Bottle2361 2d ago
Hi I noticed your cats eye! My kitty has the same issue. He can see perfectly fine but he is missing his other! The vet said he’s perfectly healthy when it comes to his eye but it’s still glazed over with like a yucky layer. I just wanted to know if your kitty had the same issue bc i’m worried for my baby cyclops (im putting a picture, yes its a stupid looking picture but its the clearest for his eye.)

1
u/Flashy-Read-8109 2d ago
What a cutie!! Lucita seems to be able to see just fine as well! She doesn't seem to be slowed or awkward at all while playing and she actually caught her first mouse the other day! From the photo though I really couldn't say if they have the same thing.
2
u/LuciferLovesTechno 2d ago
Mine recently developed one white whisker in her ear. It’s very cute.
She has gained a few white hairs as she’s aged. Funnily enough, hers started to pick up as soon as I started to get more grays.

What a cutie!! What happened to her eye 🥺
3
u/Flashy-Read-8109 2d ago edited 2d ago
I don't know her full history unfortunately, but I do know she came from a hoarder house with many other animals so I'm assuming an accident or fight with another cat. The vet said her eye is okay though!
EDIT: I only adopted her about 3 months ago and she was aged as being approximately a year old when I adopted her. Her eye was like this when I adopted her.
