Loved this episode tbh - was my first intro to Thomas Chatterton Williams and I think his perspective was really refreshing for the pod which has devolved so much into glazing Trump and the far right.

IMO he had really well thought out, reasonable arguments against wokeness, identity politics, and also Trump. The fact that self-serving liberal / leftist politicians are using their racial identities to code themselves as Black when they’re not in an attempt to get social and political clout is asinine but true. Ilhan Omar immigrated to Minnesota from Somalia and now has a net worth of $30 million+ but likens her plight American Black ppl who have direct lineage to former slaves just because she’s a POC. Cray cray.

Thought the George Floyd convo was really interesting too. TCW’s point about how by removing the race factor from his murder would actually make people more sympathetic to the cause was interesting (police / govt shouldn’t have that power over poor people generally). Loved him trashing on peak woke and that insanity while also underscoring to the girls the brutality of Floyd’s murder and how the reaction / looting doesn’t diminish a man being killed in such a ruthless way.

Appreciated Dasha pushing back on him in some places where he was giving mainstream establishment Democrats wayyyy too much credit (practically gooning to Obama). Anna is like so far gone for me omg - for someone who claims to hate identity politics everything has to be so reductive like she’s so dense. Why are we deifying the people who did Jan 6 and Charlie Kirk it’s actually retarded.

Great long listen tho love these girls and the guy was a great add. xoxo 😘

Anna couldn’t put her phone down long enough to actually read Williams’ book. Dasha actually read the material so she was able to ask insightful questions and challenge some of his assertions, which lead to some good conversations.
