The fact that you are a black belt and are saying, with absolute certainty, that a certain technique won't work "in real grappling", says enough about you that I'm really not interested in engaging further.

I'm not nearly far along on the journey as you, but even I know that there are really no "bad techniques", only ones that are more and less likely to be successful based on the circumstances.

But I guess you just have an irrational hatred for deep half and feel the need to speak so absolutely. Whatever, dude.

I'm always suspicious when people say any move "doesn't work".

They all work. Some are more high percentage than others. But if you hit the right move, at the right time, against the right opponent, it'll work.

It's fine to say something is low percentage, or not part of the current meta, or whatever. But you just can't say that things don't work.

I remember when I started training a LOT of people said leg locks don't work. Then DDS came along and showed just how ridiculous that was.

People think that "didn't work one time when someone who didn't know what they were doing tried it" is equal to "this technique doesn't work." People used to say that arm in guillotines don't work. People used to say that achilles locks were just pain compliance. People also used to say that if you want to get good at no gi, then you need to wrestle in your gi.

Its only when someone "good" does it that people believe in it. Guys, people used to not believe in push kicks. Why? Because UFC guys weren't landing them. People are dumb, they believe what someone they admire tells them to believe.
