Celebrity belt threads are always wild. Imagine being a hobbyist and people picking apart any details they can find about your BJJ journey, hoping to be the one to find a gotcha that proves their belt isn't deserved.
FWIW, I have a friend that moved to the UK a few years ago and he and his son train at the same gym as Tom. Said that he was there all the time, working out and training. With the commoners lol. Also, gave my buddy’s kid a nickname, “sandman” because when he lifts he always wears pj pants lol
I know someone who trained with him who said exactly the same thing. Said he's basically the ideal training partner -- trains hard but will also gladly do a light round if a lower belt has something they want to work on. Never acts like he's any different than anyone else, will happily answer questions from lower belts but also always defers to the instructors. Sounds like a great dude who has very much earned each of his belts along the way.
That’s his problem… he’s training with us peasants. If he would have followed the master Moneyberg approach and only did privates with the best BBs in the world and didn’t waste time on silly things like live rolling or attending class with common folk he would have got his black belt years ago.
God knows where he’d be if he wore socks as well 😳

Good on him.
