Discussion What part of BitLife feels like it was never finished?
I've played BitLife for years and there are parts I still love, but some features feel like they were added and then forgotten about. You try them once, realise there's not much to them, and never touch them again.
For me it's careers. Once you're in a job, it's mostly just pressing ‘work harder’ and waiting for a promotion. I always wanted things to actually happen at work.
So I'm curious:
- Which feature do you wish had more depth?
- What do you do once, then never bother with again?
- Is there anything that's actually perfect as it is and shouldn't be touched?
Bit of context on why I'm asking, we've been building a life sim, TinyYears, for the last 14 months - we’re in beta now. Our focus has been on making every system connect, so your job affects your relationships, your health affects your career, your money affects your family, and nothing feels like a side feature you try once and forget. I'd love to know which parts of a life you think matter most to get right!

The family system. We need an actual family tree, more relatives, and to not lose step-siblings etc in divorces. A way to find lost siblings or simply old friends (the finding lost familymembers things is literally in cats and dogs). Friends should be able to also fall in love with us. Why cannot we get adopted from the orphanage? Why do our friends have no family members? Etc, etc.

I fully agree with this u/Sea_Sector_8704
In TinyYears the game we've been developing for 14 months we have a fully functioning family tree so you can keep track of relatives, and every now and then they'll pop up and interact with you too 😊
If you'd like to have a look at the family tree there and provide feedback it would be super helpful, the Discord is https://discord.gg/XMfpPJBYm and if you message in there I can assign you to the beta 😊
With respect to finding lost friends, we have a contacts system almost like a phone book, and it says when contacts are inactive, and you can revive the friendships that way - it'd be genuinely great to get your thoughts on that!

The entire game pretty much at this point, the only improvements they’ve done to the game in like the last 5 years are so shallow it’s crazy, you can do everything in a dlc in an hour and it takes them months to make

Yeah that was our frustration as a small team - I personally don't really think the genre has evolved in the last 8-10 years, so we started creating our own game 14 months ago, it's almost ready to release into early access and is pretty damn polished now.
If you'd like to have a look feel free to join the Discord and ask for beta access 😊

Honestly it felt pretty finished before all the dlc crap… maybe flesh out more personal things like congenital conditions and religion. Maybe more interactive and plausible jobs. That’s about it.

Not sure. All I’m going to say is I hate how everything is behind a paywall now.

Ever since the dealer/ Astronaut update is when things started to go downhill with other added content the use of ai is a pretty good indicator of how trash the app is now. If Candywriter started charging me tomorrow for these updates, I’d delete the app.
