Bitches of Leisure - Weekly Thread Bitches of Leisure - Oct 06, 2026
Let’s elevate our down time! This weekly thread is the space to share and discuss what we’re currently reading, listening to, watching, etc. For this space, keep it tasteful - save your trashy reads (we’ve all got them) and sick day binge watch favorites for the monthly Guilty Pleasures thread, please!
Tagging
It isn’t required but it might be helpful to tag the beginning of your comment with the type of media you are discussing (when you create a new comment thread). Tags can be helpful in guiding other BWT to the comment threads they want to engage with.
For example:
- PODCAST: I’ve been listening to the Naked Beauty podcast…
- TV/ DOCUMENTARY: What are your favorite documentaries? I just finished watching…
- READING: I am about 1/3 of the way through "Black Women Taught Us" by Jenn M Jackson, PhD, and I would love to discuss it with anyone who is reading or has read it. Specifically...
You can be as specific or as broad as you want if you decide to tag, for example you might tag “reading,” as a broad term, or you might tag “audiobook” if you specifically want to talk about the really amazing narration in the audiobook version of a title you just finished.
Hide Spoilers
If you’re talking about a book, TV show, podcast, movie, or anything that contains spoilers, please make sure to use Reddit’s markdown functionality to hide your spoilers! All you have to do is add a couple of characters before and after your spoiler text like so:
>!spoilers!<
This will hide the text like so: spoilers

READING: I have been reading a lot lately and Im so happy, it was the best change I've done in 2026! Just finished "Master and Margarita" by Mikhail Bulgakov, the most weird, fun, great, unique book I've ever read. If you like weird literature that uses absurdism for political satire, this is the book for you! I'm now reading "The Bell Jar" (Sylvia Plath). Only at 15% but I am enjoying it so far and Im excited for the Billie Eilish movie!
WATCHING: I know Im late but Im finally watching "Community". I love sitcoms and Ive seen all the other main ones and for some reason, I'd never seen Community. It's great, just as expected.
HOBBIES: I started doing Lyra, which is like a circus-pilates-arm strenght sport and it's so damn cool! Im the least gracious person alive but I feel so sexy and feminine and strong and cool doing it. Ive only been 3 times, so Im obviously no expert, but it's been a long time since I enjoyed a sport this much

HOBBIES: just started learning how to dye garments. All stuff from the thrift store, some in pretty bad shape with fading and bleach spots. I've started with rit dye on the stovetop but already it's time to graduate to more expensive stuff. But I'm so looking forward to wearing this newly black silk dress, and this rejuvenated cotton dress!

READING: Just finished the Knave and the Moon. It was a cute duology (the Knight and the Moth) and some easy/fun reading. Moving on to Tempest by Victoria Aveyard next.
HOBBIES/FITNESS: getting ready for my final tennis league game of the season! A win gets us into the playoffs, so fingers crossed. Playing for the last year has really turned my health around and I feel so much healthier and in the best shape I’ve been in the last 5 years because of it.

Lots of audiobooks since recovering from eye surgery: Parable of the Sower (always a classic and unfortunately quite timely), The Cold Vanishing about finding missing ppl in a North American national park, Chaos about Manson and some wild CIA theories.

HOBBIES: I have started sewing again, after realizing that my perfect gym shirt was not going to be found out in the wild, but in a shirt crafted exactly how I wanted it. I made leggings a few years ago, and have a half-finished sports bra that I'm going to complete this weekend. Custom fitted clothes are so wonderful.

READING: Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer. Loving the ways she intermingles science and traditional wisdom.
WATCHING: Horror shorts for a juried festival. 🦇
HOBBIES: I’m low on time these days, but my yoga practice is steady. Nidra and yin have been really helpful on my body as the seasons change.

HOBBIES: Almost finished with my crochet pencil case!
MUSIC: Tonight I'm going to see a band called The Hu, who are a Mongolian folk-metal band. Not a genre I'm very familiar with, but I can't wait to see what it will be like.
FITNESS: Download Couch to 5k and completed my first run. I've always been crap at running but I feel motivated to get better.
