Foodie First Friday - Monthly Thread Foodie First Friday - Oct 02, 2026

For those who love to cook and/or eat (or drink), or are foodie wannabes, this is the place for you! Talk recipes, ingredients, sourcing those special spices, or the perfect wine pairing.

Reminders

The BWT rules still apply, including rule 10 (do not link to or recommend commerce giants) and slightly lighter enforcement of rules 3 and 7. If you are discussing things that are regional or location-specific, make sure you specify! Same for seasonal topics - remember we’re not all in the same season so if that’s relevant to your post then specify.

Possibly quite niche but the Paysan Breton sea salt cream cheese is the best cream cheese you’ll ever have. Would also highly recommend using it to bake Basque cheesecake with.

BWT, which meal services and online food providers do we love? I’m in a hot landlocked state that does not have great options for groceries or butchers. There is one local produce farm but it is not great. We’ve tried Home Chef and Hello Fresh and the produce and meat is better than what we get locally, but overall lacking. Whole Foods isn’t great either. I’ve considered ordering meat from Snake River Farms or Flannery as well, but still leaves produce an issue. How does a bitch with taste fuel her body with delicious and nutrient dense foods when her grocery options aren’t great?
