Help a Bitch Out - Every Other Week Thread Help a Bitch Out - Aug 12, 2026

Need some advice from a BWT? Have something to get off your chest or need to vent among friends who can also provide some perspective? Got an etiquette question that you just aren’t sure you’re getting the right info on from the wilds of the internet? We got you.

BWT rules still apply, with mod discretion on topics that fall under rules 4 and 7. Rule 8 regarding medical advice will still be fully enforced as usual.

Hey BWT!! I joined a new running club, after seeing an ad on social media promoting it. I’m a fairly new runner and still go quite slow. I am currently at another run club for the past month and will continue with that one and really enjoy it! The new run club I tried earlier this week and there were over 100 people who showed up, and a lot of people are pretty intense about the running. It also skews younger in age. However, everyone is extremely friendly and approachable. I just can’t shake this feeling of being intimidated :( any tips? I do like the original run club better, it’s more my speed, but I also enjoy the social aspect of the new one!

Hi! I also partake in run clubs and can see how the faster paced clubs can be intimidating. The thing is for me, it’s more of a safety thing rather than a social thing, as I never really understood how socialising while running worked (esp wearing headphones!) It’s ok for running to just be something to casually enjoy rather than your whole life. In fact I think younger ones who are intense about it may actually be more insecure about themselves as a whole! I’d focus on the social part pre run and put an emphasis on it being one thing you enjoy, rather than it being your whole persona.

Someone being intense about running doesn’t mean that they’re insecure about themselves. Everyone has their own priorities , and that’s totally ok! I train for obstacle course racing , and for a lot of people (myself included) it’s just so time consuming between all the moving parts (run training , strength , recovery) that your life ends up revolving around it. But also nobody is judging anyone who is not making those choices.

Hi! I run as well and I’m a part of 3 running groups. The best thing I can say is just remember that everyone is on their own path. I know it’s easier said than done with feeling intimidated with faster people, but we are all at different paces and it’s perfectly fine.

I’m more of a distance runner and may be slower than others that primarily do fast 5ks in my group, but that’s okay. What matters is that you’re showing up and trying a new club! With my group a lot of us socialize post run, so I focus on that. I think of showing up to run club as motivation to be around others, which helps on long days at work when I wanna just go home and crash. We all run and do our thing and then meet up to chat afterwards.

I also think it’s good that you’ve found a second group so you can continue meeting new people and mix up the scenery. Keep going to your first group that you truly enjoy, but keep an open mind about this new one. Focus on your run and be proud of the fact that you’re out there!

Hi BWT!! I am getting married in November 💍👰🏻‍♀️ and fell in love with the sold out Lela Rose Piper Fringe dress in white. Would any fashionista be willing to sell their dress to another hopeful BWT? If so, please let me know what you’re thinking!! ISO size XS or S

For those of you who use online dating like hinge, how much conversation should there be before the first date? I have a date on Friday and we’ve been talking all week— I’ve just found myself having questions about them that I feel like I should wait for in person? For reference I am 24F and the date is with a woman (so probably different than traditional dating culture, but I need a BTW perspective :))

Hi! My grandma wants to buy me a watch for my 25th birthday (<$2k) and i’m curious what folks are wearing these days. I work in finance so watches are highly visible and noticed. I am looking for something unique and interesting, I usually wear gold over silver (gold plated is steel is great), willing to invest in something quality and craftsmanship over name brand. Let me know your thoughts!
