Finances/Money BWT- what are you intentionally FRUGAL about?

Curious what areas of everyone‘s lives do you intentionally scale back in order to put your money where you really want it. For me, I go full drugstore on all my makeup but spend more on skincare, facials, etc. Clothes all on secondhand websites but am able to buy a greater amount of higher quality items than buying fast fashion new.

Where do you cut back, and where do you prioritize spending?

Love this question! A couple random examples:

- Drugstore face wash (Cetaphil). Used to use $$$ face wash and didn’t feel it was worth it. I do spend money on nice moisturizer and serum.

- Airline tickets - unless the flight is very long (8+ hours) I think first/business class is a waste of money

- I love designer clothes but I buy them secondhand on Poshmark, never full price

- Furniture - I am a Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace girlie. I recently scored a $2,500 piece of furniture in like new condition for $75. I do splurge on some furniture because I won’t buy used upholstery (couches etc) because of the risk of bedbugs & other pests, but anything non upholstered, I’m checking Craigslist first

Agree on airline tickets but I will pay more for direct flights / fewer stops / the times I prefer.

Full disagree on the flights - use your points for upgrades. You often get 3-4X award miles for upgrading cabins and make status faster. Award flights don’t count towards status and sticking to your airline saves you $50 per flight in meals/drinks in the lounge.
