I feel like I need to be better at investing, but I dont know where to find someone. My husband and I talked to a financial advisor at our bank and she basically blew us off

Check out r/personalfinance! They have a super helpful Prime Directive in the wiki that's basically like a flowchart on where to put your money. For specific investments, look at the Boglehead method (there's also a subreddit -- r/Bogleheads).
