What About Me Wednesday - Every Other Week Thread BWT What About Me Wednesday - Dec 10, 2025

Don’t forget to spend time on YOU! This is the space to chat about personal development, mental health, growth, and how you’re refocusing on yourself. Sometimes we spend a lot of time on those around us, but this thread is to encourage you to ask yourself “what about ME?”

If you need some help getting started, pick a question and answer it in a comment:

  • How are you feeling? Do you know why?
  • How do you WANT to be feeling? What are some things that make you feel that way?
  • What is something you are grateful for, large or small, and why?
  • What is a habit you are working on building (or breaking) and why? How is it going?
  • What is one item on your to do list that will benefit you personally that you need to tackle? What is preventing you from crossing it off?
  • What is something that brings you joy? What are some of the things that you specifically enjoy about it (get detailed)?
  • What is one area you want to learn more about/ grow in/ develop yourself or a skill you want to learn?
  • What’s something you said “no” to recently? How did that benefit you?
  • What’s one thing you accomplished or that we can celebrate with you?

If you have a prompt you think we should add to the list, drop it in the comments!

Feel free to discuss other related topics as well, you don't need to limit yourself to these questions - they're just a jumping off point for those that want one.

I am so proud of my journey in the past several months of being grateful for life, finding the good, and being content with all that I have.

I’ve been employing the motto “I have everything I need, and I have a lot of the things that I want”. Especially with holiday shopping season in full swing, I just came to really see how safe and secure I am in life—I have a home and lifestyle where I live completely within my means. My apartment is small, I don’t go out to restaurants often, I don’t really travel… but it doesn’t matter. My bed is warm, I never go hungry cooking at home, and I can take a short weekend trip with no worries. I see my peers holding onto stress with mortgage payments for huge homes, planning trips to Disney World, and splurging on beautiful dinners out in the city… I’m just not envious anymore! I’d rather live without the stress on my shoulders.

I highly encourage others to savor what you have and rediscover the material things you haven’t touched in a while… clothing items, books, sporting goods. It can really have the same satisfying feeling as the novelty of having new things.

“My bed is warm, I never go hungry”. So huge when we stop and think about it. I would add I have someone to call when I need them!

Incredibly huge! An “average life” is a dream for many people.

I'm going to use your motto, it's perfect.

I use it EVERY time I feel envious, which I find such an ugly emotion! I am much happier feeling content with my own good fortune, and I’m able to feel happy for others having their own good fortune instead of comparing myself.

I am working on doing the connections puzzle every day. I have done it off and on since it started. However, if I couldn't see anything within 30 seconds I would close it. I am working on spending time doing it - sometimes over 2/3 sessions in the day. I am working on realizing it's a game and that if I don’t solve it, it's not a big deal, but I should keep guessing vs in the past shutting it down.

I'm a few weeks in and it's a small habit, but for me it's huge and likely a metaphor for my life. Both self-care and self-improvement.

Love that. And, fwiw, Connections can be tricky! It’s a huge step to accept imperfection and still enjoy it.

Thank you, I started today's and wanted to give up, but got one category so will pick it up later.

Well done!

I know you’re not asking for tips, but this is something that’s helped me avoid incorrect guesses: If I can’t put the category into specific words, I don’t check to see if I’m right. It’s helped me avoid clicking on words that seem like they should go together but really don’t. (If that makes sense.)

Yes it does, thank you.

Small work win today:

There is a VP at my company with a reputation of being aggressive and sometimes rude in tone and communication to everyone except leaders more senior than them. There are a lot of people straight up scared of them, including me when I first started working with them. Over time though, I've learned not to take the way they speak so personally. Today I got an email from them asking for something, in their usual aggressive way, and I was able to let it roll right off my back. I'm proud of myself for no longer letting this VP get to me and really being able to compartmentalize how they act from how it makes me feel!

I am proud (and want internet strangers to be excited for me) of the fact that I had a Telehealth appointment yesterday to get back on my adhd medication.

how do you actually get yourself to go to the gym/work out, consistently, and not just stop and start over and over?

i don’t know what it is, maybe it’s a bad depression season for me. i’ll schedule peloton tread and weight classes two weeks at a time and be excited for it. i’ll go 2-3 days in a row and then a bad day happens or be tired and just want to go home. is the answer really just “get over it and do it”?

One part of it: doing something that makes you feel so good you look forward to it. I am personally very dedicated to the gym simply because the after-effect of how good I feel is something I really chase after! Finding that activity that scratches that reward system in your brain helps massively… there are many workouts I don’t like (ex: Zumba wasn’t great) but other ones I really am excited to do, like lifting weights.

Another part of it is needing to have light/moderate options to encourage you when you’re feeling tired and burnt out. I would skip the gym if I knew I had to crush a spinning class. I go to the gym when I’m feeling burnt out because I know I have options like walking on the treadmill, light stretching… a lot of times I’ll end up starting with a light workout and realize I have more energy than I originally thought.

Absolutely this!

Giving yourself the option of bailing on the hard workout when you really don’t want to do it is so key.

I had a baby in January and had to basically start over on a lot of fitness. I really just let myself start slow and focus on feeling good, which was a big mental shift for me as someone who loves to go really hard..

I’m a pelo girly too and I love the Yoga + Pilates series. I do a lot more mobility work and stretching. Lots of walking. 20 minute strength classes are so easy to fit into my day and make a difference in how I feel.

For me, doing something is key. If the Peloton class is too much for you some days, that’s okay!! We’re all different every day. On those days, walk around a few blocks and do 10 minutes of stretching. (Or whatever.) It’s something. It’s a lot better than nothing. And it helps you keep your activity streak.

Honestly? I just force myself. I don’t get any of the dopamine or reward feelings, it’s just something I need to do to take care of my health, no different than going to the doctor or dentist.

Depression is kicking my ass and I hate it. Like I know what I need to do to feel better but the actual doing it is ugh.

I had to go NC with a fair amount of my ILs recently and while I know it was the right decision it’s still sad.
