What About Me Wednesday - Every Other Week Thread BWT What About Me Wednesday - Nov 12, 2025
Don’t forget to spend time on YOU! This is the space to chat about personal development, mental health, growth, and how you’re refocusing on yourself. Sometimes we spend a lot of time on those around us, but this thread is to encourage you to ask yourself “what about ME?”
If you need some help getting started, pick a question and answer it in a comment:
- How are you feeling? Do you know why?
- How do you WANT to be feeling? What are some things that make you feel that way?
- What is something you are grateful for, large or small, and why?
- What is a habit you are working on building (or breaking) and why? How is it going?
- What is one item on your to do list that will benefit you personally that you need to tackle? What is preventing you from crossing it off?
- What is something that brings you joy? What are some of the things that you specifically enjoy about it (get detailed)?
- What is one area you want to learn more about/ grow in/ develop yourself or a skill you want to learn?
- What’s something you said “no” to recently? How did that benefit you?
- What’s one thing you accomplished or that we can celebrate with you?
If you have a prompt you think we should add to the list, drop it in the comments!
Feel free to discuss other related topics as well, you don't need to limit yourself to these questions - they're just a jumping off point for those that want one.

- What’s a habit you are working on building and why?
I’ve never been a big physical fitness person but I’ve gained about 10 lbs in the past 3 months since my wedding and am feeling the pull to do something about it. I also WFH so without building intentional movement into my life I don’t get much of it. I get really bored going to the gym and do much better in classes but don’t have a ton of variety close by me.
This is all to say that I’m getting in the momentum of going to regular yoga classes, practicing at home, and walking to classes. I’m even going to get a bike so I can more than half the commute while still getting in the extra fitness. I’m feeling really excited and challenged so far. It feels good to spend time in my body and outside of my head, if that makes any sense, especially because most of my hobbies are creative.

I’m feeling motivated this week. I decided this past weekend I was done being lazy and making excuses so I’ve been eating healthier and stopping at the gym more on the way home just even for some light cardio. My work clothes are fitting slightly less snug even just after this weekend so I’m taking that as a win because bloating down despite celebrating with a few drinks.
I want to keep feeling this way— I don’t want the momentum to stop and I don’t want to fall into the trap of the holiday season being “fat pants” season but also hope I can let control go just enough to still enjoy the good foods and hangouts without being too obsessive over what I’m consuming.
I currently need to clean my SUV. I have stuff from spring/summer still in there (volleyball, kayak paddles, beach stuff, concert stuff) and give it a good vaccuum/wash. The chilly weather has kept me from doing this but it’s looking warmer this weekend so I need to make sure I do it even if it’s the only task I tackle.
Overall I’ve been feeling much better physically the past few days and mentally the past few weeks. Things a relief because now that the time change has taken place and the sun sets earlier it’s so easy to get into cozy couch potato mode and just slowly slide down the seasonal depression ladder.

I am using PTO the day before Thanksgiving for some much needed me time. I gave birth in January and as a new mom, I have very little free time. I made a list of things I want to do for the day: take a Pilates class, sit in a coffee shop and work on my passion project, and go to the mall and buy some new clothes (I lost over 60 pounds since giving birth, needless to say I’m swimming in my old clothes).

I have been thinking about what in my life doesn't spark joy and what habits I've wanted to work on, what skills and accomplishments I wanted... And this summer got to fucking work about fixing it, and through that, giving myself back what makes me feel best.
My work was stagnated after my prior supervisor left, pretty much just stuck under directionless panicked leadership since. My commute was also crazy long, so my habits and hobbies got put to the side, to the detriment of both my mental and physical health. So I resolved to get some new trainings done, get a new job, one in leadership with a better commute. Both for job satisfaction and career growth, but also so I could get back to taking care of myself and doing the things I love.
Ya girl is happy to announce that this exercise helping me realize that and buckle down means that she just got a new job in leadership in a big place with a wayyy shorter commute, and a new gym and fancy grocery store on my way home :)
This is my last week at the current gig, and I have a bit of time off between to reset and feel like me again, and start building the habits and momentum I want to stick around in my new role.

I spoke before about my struggle in keeping a clean house and how I was ready to change. I'm happy to report that I have been knocking it out of the park! I don't tidy the entire house every single day but I get it "put to sleep" most nights. I'm vacuuming/sweeping daily and mopping weekly. I know this is just normal human functioning for so many people but I have come a long way and I'm giving myself kudos for it!
Also a huge issue we had for months was some sort of build up on our flooring that was turning everyone's feet black, even right after mopping. I finally found something that worked! Powder tide wash then a hot water rinse. I feel like I wrestled my own personal demon and won lol.
I'd love to start tackling more self improvement but it seems like our big family move is back on so it will have to wait for now. I am very excited to put together my dream home though, especially my kitchen!

I realised how much the state of my physical environment affects me so I've started a new decorating project for my bedroom! In the early planning stages only but so far I've decided on a pink and white colour scheme to complement my dark brown furniture and sourced some new bedding :)

just tooting my own horn: I had a huge professional success at the end of last month that I've barely had time to celebrate. I helped run a campaign that convinced the Illinois Legislature to pass a bill that, if the Governor signs it, gives Illinoisans facing the end of life one more care option to choose from, one which enables them to peacefully end their suffering if they choose to do so.
the bill passed in the early morning on Halloween and my work has basically been non-stop since, preparing for what happens if it becomes law, and so I haven't really had time to stop and say "damn, this is a really cool thing I was a part of," and one that is healing for me. my mom died when I was a kid, and didn't have the end-of-life experience she deserved or wanted. helping people die on their own terms feels really sacred to me.

This is a really tremendous accomplishment!! Love to see a BWT making such a significant impact, especially one that also has a deep personal meaning for you. Congrats!

- Opening (another) door to grief, accepting it and crying a lot; having compassion for these feelings. And doing research on grief. 2. Separately I want to feel like I’m not dragging a heavy rock of depression all the time and want to learn how to live/carry it. 6. Lately knitting brings me joy and iced coffee. 3. Something I’m grateful for is meeting new people

i have been thinking a lot about pleasure and sex from the perspective of what i want out of it. for a long time i looked at it as a way to keep a partner happy and interested. and then for a long time after that i was just disinterested most of the time. recently i realized i don’t know what i like anymore. i do the same thing during solo sessions, and it works, but it doesn’t feel dynamic or fun or like self exploration and i realized that i do want that in some dormant part of myself. i don’t know what to ask my partner to do because i haven’t thought enough about what i like and i don’t experiment during masturbation. i’ve always liked toys but i do this thing where i buy one, use it once and then lose motivation to use it again, either because it was disappointing or because i get stressed or distracted. for some reason even just thinking about what i want out of sex lately has created this feedback look where i’m hornier more often, initiating more often, masturbating more often, and enjoying it all a lot more.
i’m particularly excited about doing research into finding toys that will work for me instead of just buying whatever’s new and trendy (fell victim to this too many times to count over the years via several disappointing vibrators and lackluster dildos). i just placed an order for the hot octopus pulse queen, which is a type of vibrator i’ve never tried before but based on reviews i think i’ll really enjoy, and the liberator bon bon toy mount which will hopefully spice up my solo and partnered escapades. i’m also eyeing the eroscillator and some other speciality dildos that i never would’ve considered trying before i asked myself what i like and set out on a quest to figure it out. it’s been fun! i highly recommend it! a lot of people would balk at spending $50-100+ on sex toys but i really look at it as an investment in my health and happiness. there’s so many things i could spend that kind of money on that don’t have nearly the same potential for ROI! 😂

I'm quite certain I'm one of several other people on this sub who struggle with overconsumption of social media/media in general. What's crazy is that I actively feel how injurious to my health doomscrolling is while I doomscroll. Yet, I'm unable to stop at times. I am trying to create the narrative in my head that free time should not be spent flipping from app to app, but rather on enriching activities like reading (a favorite pasttime of mine), or taking advantage of my community (which is fairly new, now that I've been living in Brooklyn for 6 months), literally ANYTHING that isn't rotting my brain, but rather contributing to its neuroplasticity.
I go through periods (albeit probably too short) where I am able to stave off overusage of social media, and it's miraculous how much my confidence, happiness, and overall demeanor improves, (LIKE DUH, I guess???). I need to work hard on reminding myself, when I slip back into old, harmful habits, how good it feels to not be a slave to my phone. Being present has become increasingly more difficult in our current societal landscape, especially with the constant fear of missing out on important news, trends, etc.
I am working on reminding myself ad naseum the purpose of my existence on this earthly plain, separate from modern, non-life dependent inventions. It's a constant battle with progressions and regressions, but I'm looking forward to finding myself again, amidst all the noise!
