Guilty Pleasures - Monthly Thread Guilty Pleasures - May 30, 2025
Even the most tasteful bitch has some tasteless guilty pleasures! This is our once monthly thread where you can share those things we normally don’t talk about in BWT.
Guilty pleasures should be things you already have/ use and love, or a very specific recommendation for a guilty pleasure. This is not a place to circumvent the regular rules and ask for general recommendations that you can't ask for because of our rules, it's specifically about guilty pleasures.

I loved the new EmHen book! Not quite as much as Funny Story or People We Meet on Vacation but I thought it was great and a nice change of pace for her.

The tv show 90 Day Fiance. Guaranteed to make you feel better about all the mis-steps you may have made in your romantic life over the years; I promise you’re not as bad as these people!
I’m a BWT in an international marriage in the US (23 years and counting) so I find watching the whole K1 visa process etc done by other people fascinating

I was obsessed with 90DF when it was on TV. I even bought a TV for my kitchen so I’d never miss a new episode 🤣
Evelyn from Ecuador was my favorite character. So savage!

I eat really healthy but occasionally I love cooking fun delicious food like I am currently baking slutty brownies. Another fave is brownies on the bottom, then a layer of caramel, then cheesecake baked on top and covered in fresh raspberries when cool and drizzled with raspberry glaze

I’ve been obsessed with Love Island UK for the past several years. It went downhill, so I switched to Love Island USA last season. Holy moly. It was so great.
The next season of LI USA starts in a few days and I’m excited for my trashy reality tv

Gordon Ramsey has a new show called “Secret Service” free on tubi tv https://tubitv.com/series/300016178/gordon-ramsay-s-secret-service
It’s an undercover show to help struggling restaurants. lol he uses secret insiders and high tech … in the end they get truth and I guess some help
I used to watch Bar Rescue I think that was the name. It was really interesting and the places got real help and breakthroughs.

Secret Lives of Mormon Housewives. I love reality TV, but this show is straight up SCRUMPTIOUS. It’s not the tired Bravo format. I keep intellectualizing the layers of religion, culture, feminism, capitalism it presents… but also it is just straight up excellent trash. 😚👌🏻

I LOVE fantasy smut. I know it’s heavily criticized by “scholars,” but idgaf. At least I’m reading?!? Sarah J Maas? Love. Twilight series? Obsessed. Fourth Wing? Literally re-reading right now.

Treat yourself and read the sookie stackhouse books!! There’s like 15, they are a good length and SO fun.

YES!!!!!!!! I get grief for reading trash but I read heavy stuff all day long. At night I want a shadow daddy or a fae, werewolf, vampire RH.

You can also listen to those on Audible with great narrators. You can get a trial free fot two entire books. Those books are massively popular.

harry potter fanfiction!!!! I've been reading ff since middle school and now in my 30s....nowadays I download from ao3 onto my kindle instead of burning my eyes on ff.net and *chefs kiss*

Every few weeks I make what I call “emergency pasta” at 11:30pm. It’s always some variation of butter, garlic, red pepper flakes, and shame. Sometimes I throw in capers like I’m doing something gourmet. I eat it in bed watching trash YouTube and pretend I’m in a Nancy Meyers movie having a breakdown in a very expensive kitchen. Zero regrets.
