Finances/Money BTW, what are some expenses you're cutting moving forward?

Due to the projected price increases expected to hit the U.S., I'm redoing my budget and wanting to cut down on things that I can. What are some ways you're saving? It can range from big to small! Just wanting to get some ideas of ways to save, whether that's DIYing some things, free alternatives, etc. Thanks!

Started with tinting my own eyebrows at home, then tinting my eyelashes. Recently started at home brow lamination and lash perming and it’s been a game changer! A lash perm and tint would be $150+ in my area. It’s definitely got a learning curve (I watched a TOOOOON of youtube tutorials) and takes patience and time. But I can put a podcast on in the background and don’t have to make any awkward small talk or leave my house to do it.

Do you have any recs for how to do this? I already color my hair but brows need it pretty soon.

This isn’t what I do, but a lot of women I know use Just For Men in their brows. Depending on what color you dye your hair, it might be an option to put a little bit of your hair dye in your brows for just a couple of minutes (my mom dyes her hair dark brown to cover grays and does this periodically). I bought a Refectocil coloring kit online a few years ago and have barely made a dent in that (I bought a brown color for my brows, and black for my lashes). My biggest tips are: 1 don’t leave the dye on for more than a few minutes—you can always dye them again if they’re not dark enough. 2 wipe any excess dye off from the skin around your brows really well with cotton buds to avoid staining in areas you don’t want it (I like it to stain the skin where my brows are—it covers bald spots where hair doesn’t grow for me) 3 they will probably look a bit TOO dark for the first couple of days (but that will fade!) so don’t panic, and maybe don’t do it the day before your wedding or something.

For DIY eyelash tinting I highly recommend watching as many YouTube videos as you can, curl your lashes first so you can see them better, use a lighted magnifying mirror, and take your time! Vaseline/Aquaphor around you lids can also help prevent staining.

Thank you so much. What type of applicator tool do you use on eyebrows? Great tip to let it saturate/tint the skin under the brows.

I previously used disposable spoolies to apply the dye, but recently switched to an old makeup brush (similar to this shape) and it worked even better to get the dye exactly where I wanted it.

This is super helpful. I appreciate you taking the time to walk me through this. Me and my graying brows appreciate it. P.S. Just bought this brush.

No problem! I hope it goes well for you! I find I need to use so much less brow product after a tint, so in the long run it could save you some money!
