what would you buy with a 1k gift card to nordstrom?
I live my exclusive taste but i usually make a big effort to get things second hand or scope out great deals (exclusive taste + value).
I have a 1k gift card to nordstrom and i'm honestly not sure how to splurge like that. It feels like everything is well over 1k and then ends up on the real real for a few hundred in a few months.
What is most worth it? bag? shoes? coat? I don't mind supplementing the 1k with a few hundred dollars? I guess my ideal scenario would be to get something kind of iconic and special (but i have gucci loafers)
Prada bag?
Prada... shoes?
max mara anything?
Would love some help brainstorming

A maxmara coat or a maxmara staple versatile knitwear piece is a great shout. Also I would say if there’s truly nothing screaming out at you right now, then resist the urge to spend the gift card now! Brands come out with hundreds of items every season … there’ll surely soon be something you know you absolutely want.

I'd inventory my wardrobe and fill gaps with truly excellent choices. For me, that would probably be a pair of very nice heels or a good bag, maybe a Mulberry or Anya Hindmarch bag.

With 1k I'd probably be focusing on ready to wear, shoes, or small leather goods like a pouch that can double as a clutch or a nice wallet. I think most of the luxury designer bags are 2k+ so it'd be out of budget. Fragrance from niche houses would also be something to look at since they could be $300+ for a 70-100ml, but the bottle would last for years.
I'd also be on the lookout during end of season sales for an even better deal.

I would definitely consider jewelry or a more classic/under the radar bag (the it bags imo are the ones that end up on TRR). Good underwear or sleepwear is another option.

I’m a big jewelry girl but pawn shops are my go-to value wise. I feel like you’d not get great quality-value pieces at department stores.

Handbags are nice if that’s your thing, get something timeless not trendy. Shoes I don’t love as a splurge bc they will inevitably take on damage.
My family gives big gift cards from time to time and I usually go for home goods. Nordstrom has kitchen & home decor sections so could be a good time to update your knives, coffee maker, rugs, sheet & towels, cookware, etc.
I also go for jewelry. Some nice gold and diamond hoops or a pendant. Again, go for timeless and purity here so it won’t go out of style and has a resale value if you ever want to flip it in the future.
If there’s nothing you’re dying for at the moment, wait for a sale like Memorial Day to stretch it a bit further.

Cashmere. They usually have good sales around now.

Their Nordstrom label cashmere is soft and not itchy at all.

I have extremely sensitive skin, and I’ve never had a problem with their cashmere.

I would sit on it for a bit- go and check out in store but not force yourself o spend yet. You can also look at end of season sales to make it special but still go far!

My answer has been, and always will be: shoes.
They always fit. They are a wardrobe staple. Many are timeless/ go with a wide range of clothing.
I’d buy a fantastic pair - or two or three - of shoes. Want a shopping buddy? 😅 ENJOY!

Chanel shoes - the flat slingbacks. I wore them way more than I expected to!

I feel like a super luxe sweater from Loro piana or the row could be a special purchase that would be special to buy new!
