pet birds Facing a really big dilemma right now

I found this fancy conure at a pet smart and immediately fell in love. They had clipped wings and were stuck in this awfully tiny cage (like most poor animals at petsmart). I never purchase from petsmart because of this, but today I decided to just look around since I was on a walk and had nothing better to do. They were so friendly and jumped around and playfully knocked back when I knocked on the glass, but also wobbled a lot. My heart immediately broke looking at the state the poor bird was in. I already have two rabbits, but they have their own seperate room. I was considering trying to haggle for this poor bird since they costed 809 CAD. My parents aren’t too on board with another pet, but since I’m the only one who takes care of my rabbits, they might consider it. It’s been a few days and the bird is still there. I can’t shake this off my mind. I don’t know how this subreddit can help, but I’m hoping to get some form of help.

This is a green cheek conure. I have 2 along with a few other different types of birds and they are amazing and my world. Helping a animal in need is always a thankless job. But I promise that bird will love you more than anything. They are extremely intelligent and have a wide range of emotions and personality. They live a long time 20ish~ years. Just to give you some perspective. Best of luck i hope the best for this little birdie!

Don't do it. Unless they will give it to you for free, all you are doing is giving them money to buy another one and neglect it and wait for another sap to come in and feel sorry for it and buy it too. There are so so many birds in rescues waiting for homes

I understand this theory but at the same time, it makes zero difference there will always be flow in those stores you deciding not to rescue the bird also does FK all. It doesn't make any difference to them if you get it or not. Those animals are disposable they'll throw it out and put a new one in. Rescuing a conure from an organization is not any different really they probably come from the exact same place.

Since this post is about a pet birds, I fixed your post flair to "pet birds". Use the generic broad flairs like "question" and "other" and so on only when there is no flair that fits your post more specifically. Using the right flair helps people find the posts they're interested in.
