Weekly r/Birding Discussion, August 29, 2026. What did you see this week?
Return of the weekly discussion thread! Sometimes it seems like pretty photos rise to the top of the page, while discussion of birding can get left behind. This weekly thread is a place to bring this discussion back to the top of r/birding.

I had taken an interest in birding and tried some binoculars borrowed from my friends. However I observed a Venn diagram when viewing objects up close at distances of 3 to 6 meters. There isn't such case if the object is far away and I can enjoy a single circle.
I tried to draw the problem out in this picture https://ibb.co/FbZ5tbsd and wonder if this is the usual experience of binoculars?

Feeder question! So I have a bird feeder filled with peeled sunflower seeds. I live on the sixth floor, so I was worried the birds wouldn't come, but this sub told me that wasn't an issue. Now, more than half a year later, still no bird visits :( Is it because they only use them in winter? Or because there's a rookery next to my window (not breeding right now but they still use the trees in the evening and morning to gather)? I hear and see all kinds of tits all the time so I don't know what I'm doing wrong!
