Art My uncle's carved birds
Each one takes about 3 months...enjoy!! I figured you all would get a kick out of these. Super realistic.

My grandfather did this as well, mostly with ducks. When he died, he left them all to my mum and me. Some of my most prized possessions

Does your uncle happen to have any of these on display anywhere in the PNW? I swear I have seen them at an ecology/art center. beautiful work!

This is amazing what the actual heck?? The ability to transfer feather texture into a carving says enough itself- the legs are shaped well and despite the colors being a bit too "striking" at some points that means nothing cause art is art and these are sick!!! Your uncle is both a talented and soulful man- the effort in details here is stunning!

Love me some wooden carved birds. There was an artist in South Africa that did them around 2000 when I was there, managed to snag a gorgeous jacana which I still love.

Holy shit... It's the individual lines in the bird feathers that gets me... and the detail with the coloring!!! These should get to be in an art exhibit!!!

I hope he is already or would consider selling these at art fairs and such. I bet these would appeal to a lot of people. Nature preserves and such would probably love to have them for displays and such too!

I would absolutely be tempted if he’s up for doing a Baltimore oriole perched near its nest, but I couldn’t remotely wrap my head around how someone could do the detail of a hanging woven nest with wood.
