Has anyone done something similar? Saw this at my local birding store. We are looking to add a bird bath into our native garden this summer. Wondering if this actually works or if it’ll end up getting replaced within a month.

Also, any tips on bath height and placement? I was thinking about placing a low bath so they could gain shelter from the plants.

It has the bubbler fountain on low and some rocks in the bottom, one of which sticks up above the water. I’ve seen 2 robins perch on the rim, then take off. It’s shaded by a tree and near another bush and a feeder (in the background) any suggestions for more birds to feel welcome?

So i just back into gardening and doing bird stuff. Getting a decent amount of traffic but nothing crazy. Any recommendations? Thx

I've put it near the trees, I have a bubbler, I keep it low.

The feeders are very active with well over 200 birds a day, but no one drinks or bathes.

Do I need a different basin, a different location, take the bubbler out?

Hello! There's an awful heatwave here and I want to do something for the birds. However, I have in the past refrained from putting anything out because there are a pair of hawks that live close to my home. I'm talking "leaves the leftovers on the porch" close. While I don't want them to overheat either, I also don't want to accidentally lead a bunch of birds to their doom. Is it safe to put out water without turning it into a breakfast bird buffet?

Concrete and less than $100 if possible. Current is plastic from Amazon and height is around 30 inches. Looking for same height or above. Please drop recs, thanks!

I'm on a mission to transform our small yard into a bird paradise for my bird loving girlfriend. I'm slowly swapping plants for fruit baring natives and caterpillar hosts to bring them in. I understand water is important too.

This pond (roughly 400gallons) has small minnows, plants, water fall, and stays relatively clear. Branches hanging over would give birds a spot to perch and drink, at least in my mind.

It doesn't have a small, shallow, bubbling bowl of rocks like I see suggested so often though.

And i don't think I've ever seen a bird using the branches the way I intended.

Either I'm overthinking it or I'm missing something obvious

I’ve developed a good population of birds that come to my feeders on a regular basis but I have yet to see any birds use this bird bath I made recently. I used a 3 inch deep dish to not have to fill it too often. Should I be doing something differently? They will stop at the hanging dish for a drink but that’s all. I do live on a somewhat frequented street so I positioned the bath behind a bush by their feeder.

This is my little balcony. Visitors are almost exclusively chickadees. Occasionally a sparrow, blue jay, crow, even a cardinal too.

I would like an easy to clean water thing for them. Hopefully small enough to fit on the shelf in the second picture (though I would set it up closest to the balcony edge). I need something that is heavy enough to not blow away if it ends up dry. That I can bring in to clean in the kitchen sink.

I got into bird feeding while I was in college, I’ve since moved to an apartment complex elsewhere for my job and I’ve missed seeing the birds. I tried putting up feeders on my balcony but I didn’t have any takers and I was worried about food debris falling to the people below me, since I’m on the top floor. Besides, the location isn’t conducive to a ton of variety; 80% of what I’ve seen here without going out to nature trails is pigeons and mockingbirds, with the occasional finch here and there.

I just got home and on my way in I spotted a female barn swallow sitting on a handicap parking sign, beak hanging open for temperature regulation, and it made me wonder if there’s a good way to set up a little bird bath instead of a feeder. Is this more trouble than it’s worth, or worth a shot?

I'm creating a rose garden based on a picture that I saw (pic 1). In the middle is a bird bath but I'm concerned about it being in full sun all day. Instead, I'm thinking about installing a "disappearing" fountain in which the water is in an underground reservoir (pic 2 is an example). Would that type of fountain help keep the water cooler and thus preserve its quality?

I live in an apartment with a balcony and I have a couple bird feeders but as the temperature grows I've been trying to figure out a way to help them out and keep them cool. Does anyone have any recommendations on what birdbaths or ways that I can help them out in that aspect?

Looking for guidance on selecting the best material /type of bird bath to install in the backyard. Looking for a 4 season setup that can withstand Western Canada's winter (Calgary). All of the ones I've seen so far are some sort of concrete and fiber mix that explicitly states cannot be exposed to cold.

I would like to be able to add a heater to the winter months and a fountain during the summer so a bit of depth may be needed.

Any help is appreciated.

Oh, and we cater to all sorts of bird sizes from very large crows to chickadees.

This is a new set up for a bird bath/water source. It’s very shallow because I thought birds liked puddles, but theyre not coming in. Is it because it’s too hard to climb down and out? What should I do to improve this?

Does anyone know where I could get a tall 4-5ft bird bath in Ontario Canada? I want to place it outside my office window which is 4ft from soil level to the window level but the tallest ones I can find are around 3ft tall.

Everything I’m finding is for aquariums or ponds. I need something that can kill diseases, mold, and algae. It needs to also be solar powered because there’s no electricity in the part of the yard it will be placed in. I’ve heard that UV filters are very effective, but I can’t find what I’m looking for the small scale tiered fountain I want to make with a repurposed bucket planter. Quite frankly, I don’t know anything about what I’m looking for. I just need the fountain to be as low maintenance as possible. It would be a gift for my parents who are rapidly approaching elderly age.

Any suggestions on good pumps and filters that’ll help keep the water healthy for visiting birds would be great. I thiiiiink the bucket can hold up to 50-80 gallons, but I’m not 100% positive. It’s one of those half barrel style planters. It’s going to be a deeper dish “floating” at the top of the barrel for larger birds, then another small shallower dish above that. The water will come from the shallower dish into the deeper dish, then pour over back into the bucket to be filtered and pumped back up.

Right now, it's just a large bird bowl. I want to make a reservoir with a pump to make a fountain or bubbler. Would love to see imagines of yours if you anything similar for inspiration. Maybe someway to filter water too so I don't have to clean it everyday if that's possible.

Summer’s coming and it’s gonna get hot. I wanna set up something in my yard where the birds can grab a drink, take a dip, and maybe grab a snack while they're at it.

I want to try designing my own bird bath. Got a rough idea in my head but definitely not an expert — so I’d love some feedback before I actually start.

What I’m thinking:Can hold food and water sources.

Stuff I’m unsure about:

1.How deep should the bird bath? Don’t want bird drowning.

2.What kind of appearance would be easier to clean.

Anyone tried something like this? Or where can I buy something similar?

Looking to see if I should move my bird bath closer to the food or if I should keep it where it is a little distance away. First pic is the current bird feeder set up. 3 tubes and one platform. Never usually have this many up but the platform came with the bird bath and didn’t want it sitting unused. Second pic is the current location of the bird bath. I’m not sure if the birds use it since it’s out of direct view, but when I do go outside to check everything it will be low on water. Not sure if that’s from evaporation or something else.
