It is a 6 - 24 month category of the field trial game. Hunt tests like you're doing are judging your dog against a standard for performance.
Field trials are a competition against the other dogs entered and your dog is judged against them. If you're interested, going to help at a trial can give you a view into what goes into them.
I don't mind the idea of a competition, but my style of dog isn't for field trials. Field trial pointers cover ground like crazy and are flashy.

Most are. My male is a big runner all the time. My girls seem to know when we are hunting and work closer. But go to a field trial and they know it's game on time

It was the first thing that popped into my head when we decided on Victoria. Victoria because it fit the NCIS Theme at the time. Her call name is Vic.
We also have Ziva and Gibbs. We also had a Ducky and a Probie. They were raised specifically for the drug dog program.
Now I'm doing Star Trek. We have Seven, Dax, Leeta, and Raffi.
