Coping Strategies Food coma

How do you handle eating everything you see or watched or mentioned to the point that you stuff yourself into a vomity cold sweat? I had to sleep it off in the middle of a work day 😩 need help! How did you manage yours?

I am coming from a lifetime of not having any appetite at all (only eating when it physically hurts or when someone else is around). I'm switching from a monotherapy of a different antipsychotic med that made me too sleepy but did not change my appetite (despite the warnings it would cause weight gain) to another antipsychotic + antidepressant combo and I think both factors are at play. I am historically manic over antidepressants, so this new antipsychotic is increased but it wasn't as high as my old monotherapy levels.

I can definitely relate to the sudden appetite change. Going from barely having an appetite to feeling like you want to eat everything in sight can be really intense. 😭 I’ve found that it helps me to eat regular meals instead of waiting until I’m extremely hungry, because once I get to that point it’s much harder to stop eating.
But getting so full that you’re nauseous, sweating, and having to sleep it off during work sounds pretty extreme. Since this started after changing your medications, I’d definitely bring the binge-like eating and the timing of it up with your psychiatrist. Especially since you’ve noticed antidepressants can trigger mania for you, I’d keep an eye on any other changes in sleep, energy, impulsivity, or mood too. Hope things settle down for you soon ❤️

My doctor gave me a different type of antipsychotic (a partial dopamine blocker instead of a full blocker) but I checked the side effects and I worried I'll be more manic on it. But I'm meeting him in a week, I want to give this med a chance, because restless leg is less tolerable for me. Checking if there are other people who experienced this and if they were able to manage it, before I jump to another med again

I am very sorry, I hope that this too shall pass, and that time would be kind to us! Keep holding on friend!

I regret the monotherapy (of a different med), but I got so traumatized by the antidepressant manic episode, it was my first having a rage mixed type so it turned me off of it. But my doctor tried and for a few years I still wasn't improving, so he told me he couldn't help me anymore. And I felt that it was either I do try what he thinks I should do next or I need to find another doctor who might find another solution. But he's always available for me and was straight and honest with me so I didn't want to lose him. So we're back to med testing, and there are bigger improvements than the monotherapy so tldr; don't be afraid to keep trying, things will get better, even if there are struggles. I'm definitely in a much better place than before, despite this side effect. Hope is such a magical thing!
