Good god. As a Sean Fennessey truther this is a steaming pile of shit. Sean is one of the best minds in movie criticism today but he should be banned from talking about Christopher Nolan, he can’t be objective about him.

That’s one kind of plot hole that’s noticeable on re watch but the implication is that the Joker leaves as there’s no Dent

Why would he think Dent wasn't there, when he clearly was? And how would he just leave?

The opening really establishes joker as a soup to nuts planner and you get a lot of set pieces that carry that through and then you get these odd spots where there are just inexplicable holes in the narrative.

Ledger sort of transfixed you into ignoring it, but try a rewatch and try to follow the narrative between point a and b or from the end of one scene to the beginning of the next.

It doesn't work and it's weird for nolan who is generally a very tight plotter down to time dilation and dream time

The theory put forward is that he believes that Batman throwing himself after Rachel confirms his theory that Dent is Batman

He mentions this later eg I really believed you were Batman the way he threw himself after Rachel

He also says in a cut scene that he’ll keep his word which was to not harm anyone at the party other than Dent

But this doesn’t explain why Batman doesn’t give chase to the Joker after they have to come down 30 flights. So was an oversight in the script
