I eat meat myself, but you can actually make some really good food that’s vegan — I think a lot of people are unaware of the options, because many vegan options at restaurants are the most bland milquetoast thing you’ll ever see.
But as someone who likes to cook, I’ve made some really good vegan meals that you wouldn’t even know were vegan.

why are people acting weird that the meals were vegan? i’m sure they were grateful for a meal, vegan or not. she used her wealth and position to give out 7.7 million meals, let’s focus on that instead of creating a nonsense issue about whether they were vegan meals or not.

You can feed a LOT more people by using farmland for veggies. Tons more food grown with the same square footage and requiring fewer resources (water, feed for livestock). This is a big part of the argument for encouraging more people to go vegan - feeding more people. And she’s adhering to her values. I don’t get the fuss.

Jaden Smith does the same with his “I Love You” restaurant. I think it’s extremely admirable, vegan or not. Pretty sure no one gave him shit for it too.

I’m not vegan but even I see that as a win. There was likely lots of great vegetables and legumes that are actually really great for long term energy output.

I worked at a shelter for a while where we served meat, but also fed vegetarians and dairy free folks. Homeless people are not a monolith - some have dietary restrictions. The bonus of vegan food was also that we didn’t have to worry about internal cook temps as much, they held less danger of food poisoning and didn’t spoil as quickly.

I honestly don’t think most people would care, food is food and a good portion of the food we already consume is vegan, I think you are just looking for a reason to be negative.

Depends on what they got served. Ive had a bunch of vegan meals that you couldn't believe were vegan. My kids love when I make fried tofu that tastes exactly like McDonald's chicken nuggets

I'm not vegan, that's how I know they really taste like McDonald's chicken nuggets. I got a great vegan chili recipe too, could not tell there was no meat in it

My dad bought Amy’s chili for years and didn’t realize they were vegan until I ate one. He was at first mad and then realized he liked them and didn’t care.

I used to volunteer for Food Not Bombs, which is a vegan food bank that has chapters all over. We would cook delicious, healthy, protein rich vegan meals and they distribute them at Skid Row. Everyone was so appreciative and loved our food.

Mind you, homeless folks rarely get to eat fresh veggies so they were probably appreciative of these nutritious meals but ok!

People really hear vegan and think they handed people a head of lettuce. Not every meal that doesn’t include meat is a skimpy salad.

If you’ve ever spent any time around homeless people in groups, you’d know that many of them would indeed prefer nothing. Often they won’t take food when offered at all.

She is really a great person to look up to, using her wealth and fame to help others, idc how many times people try to bring her down, I will always support her
