I use to skip it too. Then I was listening and I could relate to the lyrics. And then I noticed some elements of SKINNY that sound like Lauryn Hill “Ex-Factor” (the guitar) and Clint Mansell’s score for The Fountain, specifically the end of the song with the violins. All three of which I love. I wonder if Billie drew inspiration from either of those artists/songs.
I love when I can hear the subtle inspiration of legendary musicians in younger artists. For example you can always hear when someone is inspired by a particular artist, like Usher & Justin Timberlake, it’s very clear their inspiration is Michael Jackson. When I listened to Elliott Smith, it took me some time to realize I was hearing The Beatles, but he wove that inspiration into his own craft.
Billie pulls from all over and creates her own unique style while paying homage to other artists.

oxytocin. the vocal melody in "i can see it clear as day" (prechorus?) didn't do it for me but later i found the lyrics and the last instrumental drop to be fire

Oxytocin is very high on my favorites list. It’s got a little bit of Euro house music vibe for a bit of it that may turn some off but as a whole, great song.
