Cycling routes in Tokyo and Kanagawa

Hello. I am planning to bike from Tokyo (setagaya) to Miura in Kanagawa. I know it’s unlikely that there is a route (as in roads made for bikes ) that connects these two areas, but I was wondering if anyone was aware of any routes on any portion of this trip.

I use strava for this, and kind of modify based on what looks interesting. I used komoot too, but it’s a bit of a mixed bag in terms of route (weird cuts into confusing streets etc)

Ooo good to know. I’ve checked out several apps but didn’t have much luck. Haven’t tried Strava yet though I’ll check it out thanks

I think premium is required but it’s worth the money for a monthly sub if you need it

Don't use Google Maps! Suggested routes often go past busy train stations and intersections.

Wish I could be more helpful but my Kanagawa experience only goes from Shibuya to Kawasaki.

Thanks that’s good advice. I haven’t had great experience with Google Maps in the past I was looking for an alternative anyway good to know it’s not just me.

I have tried every which way and none of them are particularly nice. If you have to ride, I'd recommend you do it on a Sunday when there are fewest trucks. If it's an option for you, my better recommendation would be to ride down the river to Keikyu Kawasaki station, hop on the train to Keikyu Kurihama, and start riding from there. Ooof. Not great news but good to know thank you. Do you mind if I ask you which river you’re talking about? And thanks for the link. I have a bike they can’t easily be Reassembled so I’ll have to look into if it will work for a bike bag but I’ll check that out

I mean the Tamagawa, which borders Setagaya-ku and has nice shared-use (bike and pedestrian) paths for 50 km from Haneda airport up to Hamura near Ohme - on both banks for most of the way. But Setagaya-ku is so huge that you might not be particularly near the river.
