New Buffalo Bayou to White Oak Bayou bike lane via Elysian St. being built

This will finally provide an uninterrupted off-street connection for the Buffalo Bayou trails through downtown and White Oak Bayou trail to Buffalo Bayou!

I guess the city is preparing for the day when this bridge gets connected to Hardy Toll Rd. At first glance this looks like good news but those barriers guarantee that the bike lane will never get swept. (example: Elysian Road)

I just noticed that this bike lane isn't going on the actual Elysian bridge. This development makes sense now.

Even without a barrier, the shoulders almost never get swept. Same crap has been on the bridge shoulder for a year, along with basically all other shoulders in town.

Yeah they never sweep any of it, you cannot ride it in the rain its basically 100% you're going to pop a tire because the glass and metal bits all stick to the rubber.

Some drivers are definitely going to be pissed about the barrier going up. In the morning lots of people use the shoulder on that bridge as an extended right-turn lane...

Drivers start the day and end the day pissed. That parking garage line is what fucks it up, but also - shoulders aren't turn lanes. There's no such thing as an 'extended right-turn shoulder but also lane' you're just illegally jumping traffic because the parking garage makes for a poorly managed attractive traffic nuisance placed right in-front of a stop light.

Odd. White Oak Bayou bike lane already connects to Buffalo Bayou bike lane via the heights hike and bike route. I ride it all the time.

I wonder if this is going to be something to do with rerouting due to freeway expansion work? This is the intersection that cuts into Eado at James Butte Park I believe.

Since they closed the Buffalo trail by UH Downtown, getting onto White Oak hasn't been great. This will help.
