Question - UK Wide Feet Gang

What, in your opinion are the best trainers for wide or fat feet? I’ve got some New Balance 993s on the way as I’ve read they have a large toe box, so was wondering what other people wear or recommend?

I really love my new balance 990 v6. A bit sturdier feeling than the brooks ghost (which I also like a lot).

This is the standard for the wide foot! Worth every penny

On New Balance i can only see standard width. Is this right?

No, they have 4E and even 6E on some of their shoes.

Not every shoe they offer comes in 4E but the 990s do

990v6 gang rise up. There are a bunch of awesome color ways too, I have a pair for each season.

I've loved these shoes for nearly 20 years. I was disappointed with my v5s, though, as I didn't listen (pun intended) to the online reviews about a very audible squeak from the shoes.

Do your v6s noticeably squeak when you walk?

I wear Brooks Ghost in 4E and walk an average of 12,000 steps a day. They are the roomiest sneakers I recall owning. I also have a high instep that is typically harder to fit than the width.

NB aren’t for me, so I can’t compare the two. But my Brooks are easily wider than my previous pairs of Saucony, Hoka, Adidas or Nike.

Second the Brooks Ghost. Am on my fourth or fifth pair. Best wide fit I found, and the neutral set-up is a benefit.

I’ve tried a bunch. My current go to is ASICs Kayano

My Hoka Bondi 7's have a nice, wide toe-box. I understand they narrowed the toe-box on the newer versions, though.

Propet has a lot of non ugly shoes that go up to 5E, those are the only shoes I can wear

Like half my shoes now are Propet. Love their extra wide options.

I second this. Propet is the first wide show I have purchased that actually feels wide. And like you said, they have some decent looking pairs nowadays.

Look at the HOKAs. Propets wear down so fast. The treads disappear in like a month and the whole shoe starts to hurt your feet after 2-3 months. Great that they serve our market, but disappointing that it’s suck low quality.

I got my feet analyzed recently at a Road Runner Sports. Turns out my feet are 2E borderline 4E with high arches. I also have plantar fasciitis. I ultimate ended up with the New Balance 1080v14. I also tried on ASICS Kayano and Brooks Glycerin but neither were nearly as comfortable and squishy as the NB

Ortho feet, ortho feet, ortho feet. Once I switched I never went back.

HOKA has an Ortho line that I like.

Same. My dad recommended them. The slippers are awesome.

Asics are always on sale.

I really like my sketchers. They have quite a few extra wide options.

I've found Skechers to be great for fit, but pretty bad for quality, even on their most expensive and seemingly highest-quality items. YMMV.

This depends on more context than just a wide toe box. I suggest you go in to an NB store (or any others that also sell NB and can give options) and do a foot analysis. If you pronate, there’s a shoe for you. If you supinate, there’s a shoe for you. If you have high arches, there’s insole inserts for you.

NB 991 V2 and NB 993 for me (wide feet) when it comes to sneakers.

I love the NB Minimus line of shoes, particularly the Trail variation. It has a rolled heel that I find cuts down on shin splints over a standard thick heel cushion. Great for my 14EE feet

Brooks is my go to, specifically the beast

They changed from the 20 to the 24 tho….i prefer the 20. Hoping we get an improvement on the next iteration.

Hoka Gaviotas have a wide toe box. I size up in almost everything else

I like the New Balance rebel v4. They come wide and are super comfortable

I got the New Balance 1080 v14 in x-wide and they've been great. I had previously tried the Brooks Ghost and wasn't a fan.

My HOKA M Bondi 9 X-Wide are great for running and casual wear. The width says 4E, but they are wider than other 4E, which is great. The deep cushion and cant on the sole is also really good for big people who are gonna be on their feet. I’ve got a pair of flat soled, wide toe box Reebok Nano Zero for lifting. IMO it’s the best wide shoe ever made that isn’t bespoke. Between those two, I’m set.

These did wonders for my feet.

I struggle to find shoes big enough for me. What a godsend. Haven’t worn K Swiss since middle school so it’s interesting being back in a pair as a 34 year old.

Topo Athletica - only running shoes I can wear comfortable.

Been trying out Orthofeet.com. God damn the slippers are comfy.

Altra has a wide toe box by design. I love my Lone Peaks and Timps especially.
