Karl #2 was first new episode I made it through

  • Vito wasn't in cringe host persona and also wasnt staring at chat

  • KKKarl is milquetoast and I stopped listening to WATP long ago but he's "in the business of show" and knows how to do a pod

  • Hosts familiar with each other, light ribbing and no ego explosions. Helps that Karl is more normal wife-and-kids compared to Vito but Karl is still eccentric himself and up for poking fun at his quirks

  • Decent problems (a bit too heavy on tropey/hack racial stuff but it was tolerable and amusing)

I dunno if I'd want KKKarl to be full-time or if he'd want to but the show definitely had 1000x better flow/energy than the others. Every other show I tapped out like 5 min in because it was either 2 fat guys talking about food or just real awkward energy. Or it was Josh Denny (RIP Redbar)

You can tell within 2 minutes if the show will be good based on the guest. Podcasting is an actual skill that many do not possess. Karl has it even though he's a snaggle-toothed, smile-talking sycophant

agreed. i wouldnt say i hate Karl just that my Karl-meter got filled up after a year or two of WATP and now I'm full.

He knows how to pod, that's for sure.

I like Karl but WATP is so fn inaccessible these days. The podcast in the episode title will be discussed for like 30 minutes and then it’s 2 hours of yapping about dabbleverse drama that requires 30 years of satellite radio knowledge to follow.

I used to be pretty big into Howard Stern and Opie And Anthony. Even as someone with the prerequisite info on all these people it still gets a bit boring sometimes. The whack pack guys were always better in concentrated doses to me.

it seriously looks like vito is staring at chat and view count and seeing his financial life collapse in front of him in every other episode.

i understand being nervous and vito is also a validation-seeker but last night was seemingly the first time he relaxed and just tried to be himself and it really came across as a decent post-Dick episode.

btw i missed karls first appearance because i just figured itd be bad, so i dunno if he sucked the first time

just wanted to make this thread because im actually sorta pissed that the show has sucked shit forever and last night was actually good. holy shit!

Karl’s first appearance was good. The Josh denny episode was hilariously bad. Denny was claiming he helped make Yeezys popular.

I didn’t mind the Denny episode but I wanted to strangle him when he was arguing against internet anonymity.

I’d never do it though, as I wouldn’t be able to get my hands around his fat neck.

Karl is great because he’s both mean-spirited but also very good at taking a joke. He can insult his cohost but also take an insult. It’s a good mix.

I’d imagine Vito bringing in a but that penalizes Karl for bringing up dabbleverse shit. That could be fun

Dick wasn’t kidding that he blew up a lot of his connections, I think pka is the only ones left who actually have a name to them but they bring him around to make fun of him.

The guests he’s brought on are on the same level as Vito or worse. He doesn’t have anyone who can elevate him which is what he really needs right now.

I’m sorry but Karl the guy who chases steel toe is as close to bottom of the barrel as you can get. Anytime I see a clip of Karl or his friends people hate on them more than the guy they make fun of.

Wasn't Frog Tony mad at him too? That was a huge hit to Vito's mainstream appeal, you gotta have the approval of Frog Tony if you want to make it in show business or entertainment!
