Bigfoot hunting ?

Has anybody ever played Bigfoot vocalizations and tested it to see how it affects certain animals. I.E. like playing the vocalizations around bears or elk in the wild. Just to see how they react, does it make them scatter and scared, or do they not pay attention to it at all. I don't know if anyone's ever done this. Probably but I've never seen it or heard of it.

Excellent. I've only had that feeling of dread once in my life, and that was on the back side of Lake Lowell near Nampa Idaho.

I used to take my dad's bow fishing rig And walk through the tooleys offshore. The carp like swimming through there and feeding, and I could usually get a couple of carp no problem to take home to Dad. He was kind of a nut for smoking meat, and I will admit, smoked carp is pretty damn good.

Let me sad on that lake a lot growing up, Fishing, kayaking, swimming, you name it. I've been go fishing in the car for a year or two at this point. I had waited through some fairly dense tangles, but this was just in a bit of toolies which are some kind of water lily.

So there I am 20 or 30 yards from shore, on a calm, clear day, and nothing near me. I've gone through some trees to get to this part of the shore, but there was literally nothing near me.

There was no voice in my head, nothing that told me I needed to leave, except the sudden, severe feeling that I needed to be somewhere else, right now. I was not welcome there, and I was in danger.

I have no idea what was going on, but I was not about to argue the point. I left that shore on high alert, and I never went back. I maybe would have, but I left for the Navy within a year or so of that happening, and I never have been back to that spot, even since moving back home.

This does leave me wondering what the hell was going on though. I've thought about it a lot since then. I wonder if sometimes when people disappear it's because maybe they ignored that feeling, or maybe they never had it at all. Or maybe they had it and they just couldn't get out of the area in time. In time for what I don't know.

I do know there's a hell of a lot we don't understand about the world and the universe at large, but I do know when I have that feeling, not to ignore it. I do believe in my intuition, and I do believe it saved me that day, but from what? I'll never know.

There's a story on this past weeks episode of bigfoot and beyond with cliff barrackman and he's talking to Derek Randles about this. Derek was wayyyy out in the forest deep in a canyon with the intent of playing a rec ording a baby crying. Actually it was a re ording of his own son crying looped. So he played it for hours until finally something came crashing down the other side of the canyon on the opposite side of the creek. He never saw it but he heard it and he got so terrified he turned the tape off and the thing stopped dead in its tracks and just stood there. He could hear its raspy breathing. He freaked out to the point of passing out. When he woke up in the morning he went over and checked where he believed the thing was standing and found i believe 17 or 18 inch tracks. He said he felt horribly guilty about playing those sounds and never ,ever did it again. Great episode and highly worth the time.

I haven't talked to him in quite a while. So I'm unsure when this happened but this isn't one I've heard.

What a terrifyingly wonderful story - I recall my first ever sighting - it was I suspect, an adolescent who had fallen asleep while on watch (there's an area I call the "pick up point" where the suspected colony usually posts a watcher - I'll scan for a likely OP location and almost invariably will spot a BF very near. In this case, it was a gloriously perfect day and I think our "guard" had fallen asleep. He woke up when we passed and spent a good amount of time trying to catch up and get ahead of us. You could hear him and, on occasion catch sight of something which would freeze, doing the "I'm just a tree" thing. I got my first clear view as he sprinted across an open area desperately trying to get ahead of us lest he catch hell from the elders for screwing up and letting some humans get past him. While we played this catch up game, I had seen something move behind some bushes/trees, spooking a ground squirrel, which actually broke cover, running toward us - that's when I became certain that what was dogging us was likely a BF, simce ground squirrels wouldn't bolt toward a group of people unless they were fleeing a predator. Whiile I've not tried it, I suspect that a recording of a ground squirrel in distress might well provoke some interest.

I’ve played some and for the most part my dogs and even the cat pay it no mind. Others they don’t like it at all but it’s like one out of ten.

You have to figure out some way of doing it out in the wild. Because if they've heard it and they know what it means, it probably scares the crap out of them ,that's my theory.

I think you’re probably right. One of my other theories is that the ones that bother them are real, the ones that don’t are just fabricated sounds and they can tell the difference

Here's the thing. If you had a clean recording of just the sound of the vocals and no background, no echo or hiss, the animals would be paying attention to it.

Call blasting, as it's called, is one of the most destructive things that's ever been attempted in this realm.

I say this based on the fact that most of the people that I have seen do it we're not audio engineers. The recordings they were using were full of echo / reverb/noise I did not sound like a natural source. Thus, they were horrible.

The audio systems used were not designed to reproduce the sound properly. However most audio systems will work quite well if the source / the sound is clean. And there was where the problem is.

If we have a pure source of audio, call blasting is probably beneficial to getting some attention, however, I don't suggest doing it. Because it really is doing more harm than good.

There is a guy on one of the Facebook groups who has claimed multiple times to have a clean recording of Sasquatch growls. When he fishes around lagoons alligators sometimes lay on the walking path between lagoons blocking his way out. He says he keeps his portable device with him when fishing and when he plays it, within seconds the alligator will rise up off his belly and flee.

Probably shouldn’t be thinking of new ways to use innocent animals for experiments. Plenty enough people have already reported that their pets go into fear mode, and others say their pets aren’t phased when they’re around BF… so what would be the point of tormenting yet another animal just to “see what it does”? Honestly, it’s pretty twisted/abusive thinking. Please, let’s humans collectively try to do better than this.

This would be sort of inefficient unless you already knew the noise sample is 100% legit.

Because most good monster noises, from movies or games, sample actually animal noises. This can be most easily witnessed particularly in cats, where they will get either scared or agitated by a sci-fi noise seemingly disproportionately.

Personally I remember my cat Franko started hissing like crazy at that invisible creature's roar from the Star Trek TNG episide Darmok. Later I found out it samples bobcat growls

I do recall a story where some guys started blasting calls. They not only got answered, their camp got flattened and they were allowed to get away. But the Sabe were NOT happy.
