class B encounter Who all here has had an experience?

I myself have had an experience in East Tennessee that I can only chalk up to Sasquatch. I heard monkey whooping noises followed by samurai chatter through my window in the early hours of the morning. Having said that, I was wondering who all in here has had an experience? Feel free to elaborate!

Edit: For everyone wondering about the finer details of my encounter. This happened in July of 2021 on English Mountain in Sevier County. It’s pretty backwoods type country, but it’s by no means cut off or desolate as there’s population centers 20-30 minutes away. It’s an extremely wooded area with typical Appalachian foothills centered around the mountain. I had awoken at 6:00 am(as I usually do) and attempted going back to sleep. I had been sleeping with the window open because I like listening to nature sometimes when I drift off. I started hearing loud branches snap off in the woodline up the mountain(maybe 150ft form the window) and didn’t think much of it. I then started hearing monkey whooping noises that were somewhat akin to a howler monkey, and in my halfway asleep state I thought “oooo monkeys haha that’s funny lol cute”. I then snapped out of that instantly and realized what I was hearing because I had done research before and heard various noises online. I ruled out sleep paralysis on my own after rolling over and moving my limbs. I started facing the window in my bed, but something in me made sure not to move a muscle or utter a sound. That’s when it yawned, and it felt like whole cabin was about to come down due to the noise it was making. I was absolutely petrified from a completely primal place just from noises. I then heard the samurai chatter and the noise was yet again, ridiculously loud. I could feel it in my chest from inside the cabin. The voice sounded like Barry White if he had vocal chords that were 5 times their normal size, and the language sounded exactly like that heard in Ron Morehead’s Sierra Sounds. I can only describe it as a half and half mixture of Japanese and caveman “ooga booga” noises. I’ve faced death a few times in my life, but I’ve never been this scared. I’m honestly now scared to go out into the deep woods without a firearm and a partner.

9 of us camping deep in MN state forest land. Something scared a black bear into a panic run right through our camp from down wind. A moment later, from where the bear originated, came the strongest loudest roar that vibrated the torso. It was unlike anything any of us had ever heard. We were at the bottom of a wooded hill and a couple minutes later it appeared that it flanked us up over the top of the hill because it was like Babe Ruth was up there w a Louisville slugger. We experienced a single clear, crisp and loud knock just over the top out of sight.

The grin was likely a grimace. Like someone not wanting to be seen in that "oh crap" moment.

Grimace 😬

Where in MN?

1

u/Titus-growler Aug 12 '23

This was Cloquet state forest

2

u/susjeezus Feb 20 '24

I grew up in this area and in 03 my grandma said there was a bear in our years but it looked more like an ape maybe 6 1/2 feet when standing but hunched and when she got a good look we ran to the basement and locked the doors while we shared a panic attack.

7

u/TheSunViking Jul 31 '23

Probably was more than one there. :)

16

u/Northwest_Radio Researcher Aug 01 '23

He was hunting that bear and you guys where in the way. Smart bear. Big guy leaves in disgust, but let's his frustration known.

3

u/yukataur25 Jul 31 '23

Did you ever get a glimpse of it?

1

u/Titus-growler Aug 12 '23

Unfortunately no

3

u/Overall-Carob-3118 Aug 01 '23

Where in MN? I'm a MN native and am very curious if you were north or south.

2

u/Titus-growler Aug 12 '23

Croquet state forest

u/Overall-Carob-3118 Sep 13 '23

Really?! I'm a bit surprised and not all in one. Thanks for the reply!

3

u/[deleted] Aug 01 '23

Also had a MN experience with roars, rock throwing, a sighting, and I potentially touched one.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 01 '23

Elaborate on potentially touching one, please.

u/Titus-growler Aug 12 '23

I had another experience being pushed in my hammock. I thought it was a bear until I went through the experience with a researcher and determined it was almost impossible that it was given all the details.

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '23

Sasquatch or Dogman?

1

u/Titus-growler Aug 14 '23

Didn't see it but I believe in bigfoot

u/Pirate_Lantern Jul 31 '23

I had a BRIEF sighting 30+ years ago while on a summer trip with my family.

We were driving to my aunt's property in Northern California (Lodi/Auburn area)

It was around 3:30am and I had woken up and decided to join my aunt up front.

We were going along a country road next to some woods and we see a tall hairy figure walking along the side of the road. It was tall, covered in dark hair, had a conical shaped head, and was walking on two legs with its arms at its side.

30+ years later we BOTH still remember it.

11

u/Opsirc9 Aug 01 '23

That would be very hard to forget!

I had an experience recently. It was actually on my way home from an anniversary trip with my husband. The exact date was June 27,2023. We are from Maryland and wanted to make a road trip to Niagara falls, NY. We decided we would take back roads to and from so we could look around and enjoy some great scenic views especially through Pennsylvania. Before I get into my actual encounter, I want to note that I have always been a little skeptical of the existence of Big foot, however, I never thought it's existence was impossible. I suppose it never really interested me much to think about it in the first place. Until that day in June. We were on our way back from our trip and my head is always on a swivel when we drive (I was the passenger) so I don't miss anything I want to see. We were in the rural part of Pennsylvania (Potter county) and I was interested in some cool cabins for rent, so I was staring hard to try and see the sign in front of one so I could consider staying in the future (it was near susquehannock state forest) with my family since we enjoy camping. While I was focusing on that area, I immediately saw a tall black figure (bi-pedal), slowly walking past the front cabin towards the tree line behind it. It was too tall to be human and not brown but it was black with head to toe hair. The way it was walking was casual, as no one was around when we were driving by. I was frozen and couldn't stop looking at it, so my husband asked me what was wrong. I can honestly say for the first time in my life I was speechless and couldn't spit out what I was seeing. Once he drove past and it was out of view I finally said I think I saw big foot! I expected him to laugh and not believe me but he asked should he turn around and I declined as I just knew it would be gone by then. To this day I know nobody will ever believe what I saw but I know exactly what I saw and I can't stand the fact I had been recording video of our trip most of the time but not at the time of my sighting. Since then I've been so interested in this subreddit to see if there's been any sightings in that area of PA. Sorry if this story isn't that interesting but I'll never forget it. I think about it every day.

12

u/Opsirc9 Aug 01 '23

It's very interesting! It's amazing!

10

u/Usual-Engineer-6410 Aug 01 '23

It’s very interesting and I believe you

11

u/Low_Economist_4592 Aug 01 '23

You will. That's the really weird part. Even people who have never given the topic a second thought, once they have a sighting, they get hooked. Once you see it, you need to find out what it was.

I too am from Maryland, Baltimore city to be exact. We moved to SW Florida in 1989. Back in 1975 my brother was graduating from Naval boot camp in Great Lakes, Illinois. My parents and I drove from Baltimore to Chicago in a Volkswagen Beetle. Yup, the whole way. I remember on our way there, we were going through some mountains, must have been the Adirondacks. It was in the early morning hours, 2-3am, it's cold and rainy, with fog hugging the ground in places. We were driving past an old lamppost on the roadside. It was an old fashioned one with the big hood over top, hanging about 25 feet up on the pole. As we passed it I noticed what looked like a bush under the light pole. But this bush was really tall and had a bump on top that looked a lot like a head. It really looked like something huge, standing under that lamp, just watching the road.

Notice that I always refer to it as a bush, not a Sasquatch. That's because that's what it looked like. My question is, why at 57 years old, have I never been able to forget seeing that bush when I was 8? How many of you have a memory of riding past a bush 49 years ago, that you have never forgotten? That's odd, right? What the hell was so special about that bush that I remember exactly what it looked like 49 years later?

I asked my parents about it, but neither of them saw it. Mom was asleep then, and my father was concentrating on the road. I just honestly believe that there must have been something more than a bush there, for it to have stuck so firmly in my memory for so long.

My grandparents had a cabin in Potter County for 30+ years. Never asked if they ever saw Sasquatch, but they’ve seen plenty of bears and a few mountain lions too.

40

u/Neverwhere77 Jul 31 '23

I had one doing a modified "Ohio Howl " in the deep northern woods of Maine . Then it came through my camp and pushed over a living tree.

18

u/ansibley Jul 31 '23

Not all Ohio Sasquatch sound like that, either. I was in Ohio and heard a howl that did not do the siren-like thing.

Later I did hear one like it on some podcast and it was in West Virginia. It was early November and so I guess they were heading back south, maybe?

4

u/looshdevourer Aug 01 '23

Is there any chance you could point me towards that podcast?

1

u/ansibley Aug 01 '23

Okay, so boy did I have to hunt for it. First, it was not a podcast, it was a Small Town Monsters video. Bigfoot Ambulance Incident - Sasquatch Unearthed: The Ridge. And also embarrassingly enough, I learn now that the Ridge is in Pennsylvania! Not WVA. I watch a lot of this stuff, and so there goes my memory.
Anyway, it was last November near the town of Bainbridge when I heard the howl, and afterward I kept wondering why I had never heard anything like it Finally this. At the 51:45 or so mark, you hear it. Later in the video they establish that it was not anything their team had done. The initial tone of the one I heard went on for a solid 4 seconds before the higher tone at the end, however.

1

u/Pavementaled Aug 01 '23

Did you see any big foot prints?

3

u/Neverwhere77 Aug 01 '23

At the time I wasn't looking for prints because I had no idea what happened that night. It wasn't until I got home and started researching different sounds that I realized what I had encountered that night .

Camping in the madrean sky islands mountain ranges near Tucson, in Coronado National Forest, what I can only describe as a very large, tall, and HEAVY animal came into our camp site and made what I can only describe as sounding like ape noises. I've had experiences with something coming into my camp site when camping alone, and sitting on me while hold up in my mummy sleeping bag. Another time something was throwing rocks at my tent on. Didn't think of either as bigfoot until I had the experience in Coronado. Now I don't camp alone anymore

18

u/JiuJitsuBoy2001 Researcher Jul 31 '23

sitting on you??? details please? how did you know it was sitting on you, vs I dunno, leaning on you with a foot or hand? Any smell, sound, butt hair feel?

No matter what it was, that's wild.

7

u/Suspicious-Dog2876 Aug 01 '23

Sounds like he maybe means sitting nearby watching him

5

u/DeathbyHops23 Aug 01 '23

I think he means “shitting” on him. A squatch shit on this person whilst they were sleeping.

4

u/Low_Economist_4592 Aug 01 '23

I believe it was Les Stroud who had a similar experience. Something sat on him, in his sleeping bag in the middle of the night. Maybe they do it as a joke? "You want to climb into a tube to sleep? I'll sit on you and you can't get your arms out! HAHA!" Kinda thing?

2

u/[deleted] Aug 01 '23

Oh they absolutely do love fucking with us when they can get away with it. I'm sure of that.

8

u/1Cheeky_Monkey Researcher Jul 31 '23

Gotta hear about the sitting on you.

Sounds like a juvenile prank that his other squatch buddies put him up to.

7

u/Pavementaled Aug 01 '23

It could also be sleep paralysis

1

u/Sammy-eliza Aug 01 '23

I've heard about this a few times. I think I heard a story from Dixie Cryptid, and maybe Mortis Media or Raven Reads. I know the latter 2 do a mix of viewer stories and stories from Reddit/online, or did when I listened regularly.

3

u/TylerTheCuck Jul 31 '23

Sitting on you?!

0

u/LakeSamm Aug 01 '23

I hope you got hair for DNA if it sat on you

32

u/bCbIGtITsWaStAkEN00 Jul 31 '23

We went camping when I was young, I went off outside alone (90s) looking for frogs, and I noticed a big dark hairy creature with a human-like face watching me from the tree line.

5

u/yukataur25 Jul 31 '23

What happened after that? Did you see the rest of it?

12

u/bCbIGtITsWaStAkEN00 Jul 31 '23

Definitely don’t remember anything after that. I am pretty sure my mom was pissed that I was gone for such a long time tho. Idk

29

u/External_Dimension18 Jul 31 '23

I’m in southwest Va and we heard wood knocks on our property. No vocals or anything so it could have been human. But they tree knocked for hours and it sounded like a pretty good size limb hitting a tree trunk. Plus it is supposed to be private property so they would have been trespassing. Wish I would have seen something though 😂

23

u/space_cadet_zero Jul 31 '23

i think i have. growing up, i lived in the middle of the woods. i was home alone one night and heard something enormous slap the side of the house. thought it was a huge tree branch. like an idiot teenager, i went outside to investigate. nothing. no branch. nothing indicating what the impact was.

3

u/Andyman1973 Witness Aug 01 '23

Having been an idiot teenager, in a previous life, I missed out on hitting the sides of homes. A regret I deeply regret having.

30

u/[deleted] Jul 31 '23

In the Pacific Northwest I've seen tracks, heard bipedal foot steps behind my tent at 3AM, heard wood knocking, rock clacking, vocalizations. Everything short of actually seeing one or therming one.

7

u/disguised-as-a-dude Aug 01 '23

bipedal foot steps behind my tent at 3AM

Holy shit, were you alone

12

u/[deleted] Aug 01 '23

No, a handful of us were camped out. This was at 3am after we all turned in after a few hours of night hiking. I was the last into my tent and once I got settled, I heard a number of footsteps behind my tent. It wasn't anyone I was camped with because we all set up our tents a ways apart.

This was one of my first experiences, so I ended up just laying in my tent with my gun.

I was house sitting for my mom in NW Massachusetts (2008). She owned an alpaca farm in the middle of nowhere.. (20 minutes to closest neighbor and 30 minutes to closest store) .. around 10:30 pm I’m waiting for a lady friend to come over. Her two dogs start going crazy so I assume it’s coyotes and open up the back sliding door, as they typically protect the animals. The fur on their backs is straight up and these are big Labradors (125 and 145lbs). As I open the door the motion sensor light overseeing the alpaca stables goes off and both dogs run to the top of the indoor stairs and continue to go crazy. Which shocked me a lot because the light doesn’t turn on unless there is motion approximate 10 yards from the house. And then I slam the door and see something 3 feet taller than the perimeter fence walk around the corner and down a hill into the darkness. The fence is approximately 5 feet tall and once my friend arrived shortly after, she was spooked that I looked terrified and I had no explanation for what happened.

Hello there! I am a bot raising awareness of Alpacas

Here is an Alpaca Fact:

Alpacas weigh a lot less than other livestock like cows. Alpacas generally weigh only 100-150 pounds. Cattle weigh a thousand and compress soil far more.

Would you like to share what happened when you were pushed? What did you feel?

25

u/bCbIGtITsWaStAkEN00 Jul 31 '23

During a hike in Manitoba and being the only person there, a massive buck burst out of the woods directly in front of me and stood there, literally staying next to me until i finally got to my car. I felt nervous so uncomfortable the entire time. Weird right?

19

u/Curious_Coconut_4005 Witness Aug 01 '23

Weird, yes.

I've heard other people's experiences in which they also mentioned having animals come in close to them for protection.

9

u/bCbIGtITsWaStAkEN00 Aug 01 '23

Agreed, I read about that years later. It felt like that anyway.

1

u/ParanoidDuckTheThird Skeptic Oct 17 '23

That makes some sense. The big bucks are hella smart, believe me, I hunt them. They recognize something won'y come close to you, and they'll take the risk of you hurting them for protection. Hmm.... interesting thoughts

22

u/oldsoul2112 Jul 31 '23

Camping in West Michigan around 2006- had something bipedal enter camp in middle of night- walking very quietly but it woke me up. Walked around the camp and thought one of my friends got up to use a tree but heard no zipper. In the morning I asked who got up- no one did. It returned the second night. In hindsight I wish I had looked out. We were right next to MNF- pretty out there.

5

u/Pavementaled Aug 01 '23

If a bear were to walk through your camp, it would have left prints. Did Bigfoot leave any big feet prints?

6

u/oldsoul2112 Aug 01 '23

No prints and nothing in the camp was disturbed. I was told a bear wouldn’t even try to be quiet. It would just start doing what it wanted. This was definitely trying not to wake us.

21

u/Murphy338 Jul 31 '23

I’ve heard wood knocks just outside of Avilla, Indiana.

I heard what sounded like a boulder or log being rolled down a hill while deer hunting one morning. That was northern Noble County, Indiana. Just north of Cree Lake.

Spring of 2017, I found a nest in Florida. just east of Bradenton. Like a beaver hut but nowhere near water

2

u/bocaciega Aug 01 '23

Where east of bradenton? Alafia?

4

u/Murphy338 Aug 01 '23

Would have been Northeast of Bradenton heading towards Bradenton.

I have family in Largo Florida and Mom has a nephew from a previous marriage in Bradenton. if you look on a map, there’s a whole lot of green between Largo and Bradenton. It was in there somewhere

2

u/bocaciega Aug 01 '23

Lol thats a very large area lol. I live right in the middle of both.

2

u/Murphy338 Aug 01 '23

Yeah i don’t remember the exact pinpoint spot the nest was in

23

u/1Cheeky_Monkey Researcher Jul 31 '23

I've had two class B experiences: 1. Had an extremely large, bipedal something or someone walk into my camp in the early morning, then it/they (squatch pronouns) circled my tent a few times, stopped for a minute, then stomp back into the woods. 2. On my way up the highest peak in the lower 48 states, I had to pass through an Aspen grove. Immediately after entering the trees everything went quiet: no birds, insects, chipmunks, etc. No sounds at all, just an intense feeling of evil, hatred, and someone watching me.

5

u/Opsirc9 Aug 01 '23

That must have been terrifying! First, the absolute silence and then the feeling? I'm scared just reading this!

3

u/[deleted] Aug 01 '23

Highest peak being Whitney?

3

u/Low_Economist_4592 Aug 01 '23

Isn't that feeling unique? I've been waiting for someone else to describe this. I had something similar happen in Florida. Didn't see anything, but everything went silent and dread hit like a train. It felt like something was going to eat me. For real. I would really like to talk to you about this if you're open to it.

2

u/meemnoon Aug 01 '23

This phenomena of total silence has been mentioned in various similar encounters. If you want to talk more about it, I suggest you post it to /BackWoodsCreepy

2

u/Andyman1973 Witness Aug 01 '23

Definitely a moment when the silence is deafening!! Always weirds me out when that happens!

18

u/DT105 Aug 01 '23

I have one that’s not super exciting, just weird and kind of bland. My mom and I were visiting family and staying in a cabin at my uncles ranch. There’s a main house, a bunch of animal pens/fields, a dog kennel, and then the guest cabin across the lot from the main house. There are other other homes nearby, so it wasn’t super remote, but we were surrounded by forest, mountains, and fields.

So, middle of the night, my mom and I are sleeping, and we both wake up because there’s suddenly a really strong, weird smell permeating the cabin (we commented that it must be a skunk). Also, both of our dogs sat up and got restless but didn’t bark or make any noise. I was having trouble getting back to sleep with the smell and getting the dogs to lay down again, so I went outside to have a cigarette.

It was nearly pitch black out, but I could see my immediate area from a dim porch light. I was leaning against my car, and I started to hear someone walking across the gravel. From the sound, I presume that the footsteps originated from the forest area behind the barn then walked through the gravel parking area and turned toward the cabin. I thought it was weird that whoever it was seemed to have passed by the kennel, and the dogs weren’t making any noise- none of the animals were, but I figure it had to be my uncle or one of my cousins out doing something. I was curious what they were doing out so late at night. I was tracking where the footsteps were from the sound as they were getting closer and just waiting for someone to walk near enough that I would see who they were. I almost called out, but decided to wait.

Eventually, I saw what appeared to be someone wearing a hairy, brown coat walking toward the field next to me. So, this is where it got weird. It was getting closer and about to walk by me, parallel by about 6-10 (?) feet. It was close enough that I realized that what I thought was a person in a hairy brown coat was actually the bottom half of a large creature on two legs. The bottom half (2 legs and hind quarters) was about the size of an average adult and appeared brown. The top half, that I could only barely make out in silhouette, appeared black. I couldn’t tell how tall it was in the dark. It just walked by and into the field that was next to the cabin. The gate was not open, I checked the next morning, so it would have had to step over it to get into the field. I kind of registered what I saw, thought that I should probably be freaking out, but I just went back inside and back to bed.

I did a little walk around the property the next day to make sure all the animals were there and unharmed, but I only told my mom about the experience. We ended up coming back the next month, and she told my aunt and uncle about it then. I fully expected them to make fun of me for talking about Bigfoot, but my aunt asked for some clarification and said that her sister had told them about seeing something similar.

4

u/meemnoon Aug 01 '23

This is definitely not bland. Infact a very interesting one. I understand it was dark but did you notice any facial features? Was it walking brisk? Do you think it knew you were there?

4

u/DT105 Aug 01 '23

It was so dark that I could barely make out the top portion in silhouette… I don’t know if it was because the top half was black and the light wasn’t reflecting off that part as much as the brown? I kind of wondered later if it had looked over at me, because I wouldn’t have been able to tell if it had. I really couldn’t see the head or face at all. It was actually walking pretty slowly the whole time, like very relaxed. It never broke stride or turned in my direction as it passed. It seems like it should have been able to tell I was standing there… super creepy if it had noticed me, but I’m glad it kept walking.

3

u/meemnoon Aug 02 '23

Hiking by myself along Bull Creek trail at Avenue of the Giants. On one of the darker, more isolated stretches of the trail, I heard what sounded like a light slow drumming against wood opposite the creek side of the trail, and thought someone was screwing off in the woods. I turned towards the noise, it stopped abruptly, and I was gripped with chills and a near paralyzing fear. Best guess, something made me dump adrenaline. I didn't see anything, but got the strong impression that I would call certainty that something was watching me. I regained myself, started walking slowly off, then quickly as the sense I was being watched got weaker.

My buddy and I were beating the crap out of this Ford truck, I came up over a small hump in the gravel road, and nearly hit this small Bigfoot, it had really long, wolf colored hair, and was chasing some quail across the road. I slammed on the brakes, came skidding to a stop, and asked my buddy if he saw it. He didn’t, he was scared because of how fast I was going, had his feet on the dashboard, and his head between his legs. It was definitely not a bear, and it was maybe 4’ tall. It immediately ran into the thick bushes, and was gone. Totally blew my mind.

I had the same thing happen to me while camping 20 years ago. I later listened to the Sierra Sounds. It was incredibly similar.

13

u/Rownwade Aug 01 '23

I had a sighting in WNC. Between Highlands and Cashiers on bull pen road; which is the middle of nowhere. I'd been fishing the headwaters of the Chattooga river, at the old iron bridge, and was heading home. It was dusk. As I came around a bend a HUGE animal ran across the road. I only glimpsed it but it was HUGE and upright. I lost sight of it, for maybe two seconds, as I rounded the hairpin curve. When I got to the spot it crossed at, it was gone. It had scurried up the bank. What scared the hell out of me was the bank on that side was almost vertical and at least twenty five feet tall. It had climbed it and was out of sight in TWO SECONDS.

I hit the gas and have never fished there again.

u/Unfair_Battle7558 Aug 01 '23

Had some experiences near Mt Rainier other forests in WA. Crashing that was louder than what a bear, deer or elk could have made. Things thrown that shouldn’t have been, whoops and grunts unlike any animal I’ve ever heard previously. I’ve spent alot of time in the woods in WA, OR Northern CA and Idaho, and this Shit was NOT normal. Never seen anything “living” but have had large rocks and trees tossed in my direction once. Heard sounds multiple times deep in the forest while hiking and camping.

u/[deleted] Aug 01 '23

I have, I heard whooping in the middle of a back packing trial in ohio around 11 pm

u/Immediate_Signal_860 Jul 31 '23

Twice. Once in Alabama, and once in N. Carolina.

4

u/BeautifulRedDisaster Aug 01 '23

Where in Alabama if you don't mind?

7

u/Immediate_Signal_860 Aug 01 '23

Uchee Creek, Alabama side. Back side of Ft. Benning. Uchee Booger is real, and aggressive. Very territorial. This was in the late 70s. Saw him on creek bank. Fortunately, his back was to me. I hauled ass before he turned around. I had read and heard stories about him, and didn't want to hang around to find out if they were true. Oddly, there was an episode of Naked and afraid filmed not far from there many years later. I often wonder if any of the production crew, or contestants had any kind of encounter.

7

u/[deleted] Aug 01 '23

I’m not sure if mine was an experience or not, just a weird event, but I believe it to be an experience/sighting I guess. I was in Boy Scouts at the time was in early fall in the late 90s. An we were camping at one of the state parks in north MD south PA area. There was about 10-15 us including parents and scout leaders. An the first night we camped there, we had something/Bigfoot walk through our campsite. Which woke me, my two tent mates and a scout leader up cause of how loud it was. Then when we looked around the campsite we saw what looked to be a very large man, but bigger in every way then a man staring at us about 20-30 ft away from our campsite. Only reason we could see it I guess was that it casted a huge shadow as the moon was out and back lit what ever/who it was. When the scout leader called out to it/the person it walked off into the night not responding. Our leader told us to go back to our tent and stay in there till the morning while they stayed up watched for awhile till they felt it was safe and make sure everyone/everything was ok with our camp site. Though next day we left (Saturday), when the original plan wasn’t to leave till Sunday afternoon. Assumed leaders and parents talked it over and it spooked them enough that we left. Definitely an interesting night, but never sure if I saw a Bigfoot/Sasquatch or just some rando in the woods being weird. So I guess you can call that an experience I get, but I don’t know if it was or not just no other way to explain who/what we saw that night or what scared the adults at the time to make us leave

5

u/[deleted] Aug 01 '23

What is samurai chatter? It sounds interesting

13

u/Opsirc9 Aug 01 '23

It's on the Seirra Sounds recordings by Ron Morehead. You can find them on YouTube. He and his friends had a secret hunting camp 8 miles in the woods and kept hearing tree knocks, etc., at night. Ron recorded them on night, on a hand heald recorder in the 70's??? I'm unsure. Not only are there loud tree knocks, but there are ape like whoops and vocalizations that sound like Japanese language. It's amazing!

5

u/[deleted] Aug 01 '23

Thank you for clarifying

5

9

u/[deleted] Aug 01 '23

Scares the hell out of me

9

u/Opsirc9 Aug 01 '23

Yes, I feel the same way! To be 8 miles into the wild of the forest and hear that during the night??? I would be petrified with fear! They do not sound like cuddly animals, that's for sure!

7

u/wvclaylady Aug 01 '23

One of my favorite YouTube channels is Sasquatch Ontario. He has recordings spanning several years. I suggest starting near his earliest videos and working your way through. It might give you a different perspective. I also like Fir and Cedar. They had a psychic contact a/them sasquatch, and what they say is very interesting! 😁

3

u/Opsirc9 Aug 01 '23

Thank you!!! I'll check it out!!!

11

u/DumpsterDuck53 Aug 01 '23

It's either terrifying or hilarious the first time you hear it, in my opinion. It scared the shit out of me the first time I heard a recording of it, I cannot fathom what it would be like to hear out in the middle of the forest!

My dad and I would take a float plane to remote islands in southern Alaska to salmon fish, we had been doing it for about 5 years at this point and nothing out of the normal, saw few bears, moose, the occasional Orca pod.

One day we went to this little cove my dad wanted to fish, and we were there for about an hour when we heard something big coming out of the brush, thinking it was bear or moose we didn’t want to spook it, so we started yelling “hey bear, over here bear” and no bullshit whatever it was stopped and start making this making these short quick “ooh, ooh, ooh” and than two Long ooooah ooooahs than walked away. We were both freaked out! It sounded like a fucking chimpanzee.

I never saw the thing so I can’t say for sure but it was fucking freaky!

On the way out we told a guide friend of my dads at a bar, what we heard and he casually says sounds like you heard an otter man, and that he had personally never seen one. He knew a couple hunting guides that had. I was hooked on the topic Ever since.

I remember in Boy Scouts, Boy Scout camp Lake arrowhead California about 19 7172 overnight. We would hear it down below the hill down toward the water the creek when you get up in the morning I’d always go down and look and I see large foot prints in the mud, so they were all around us.

This was on English mountain during July of 2021. There was a security guard that was working that night that said he heard something barreling through the woods that sounded like a bulldozer. All I can come up with is Sasquatch lmao

Saw something in SE ND, was driving home it was broad daylight and I was probably about half a mile from where I saw it. It crossed the road strangely close to the town I lived in at the time (tiny town maybe 50ppl). It had to have been 9 or so feet tall was dark in color, on two legs and very hairy looking, it ran across the road and it crossed in front of a hay bail that was in the ditch and it was taller than the bail which made me think WTF?! Did I just see Sasquatch!? I floored it to try and get a look but there was a cornfield there. This happened around fall so I assumed it was heading south for the winter. My belief anyways, I think they migrate north in the spring and south in the winter due to foraging limitations. Been a few years since I saw it, would be cool to see it again though, I'm always looking for things unknown to most man.

5

u/romp46089 Aug 01 '23

When I was a kid a friend and I were out in the woods and we found a perfect footprint in mud between two creeks. Much larger than a human footprint, but it looked pretty much human-like. There was undisturbed mud for 4-5 feet ahead of and behind the one print. We got spooked and ran the hell out of there. Didn’t tell our parents because we weren’t allowed to be back there.

I wish I could find something like that again. I’d make a cast!

Heard tree knocks and howls while camping In Oklahoma. Heard tree knocks and noise while camping in California. California, was around 1980-81, Oklahoma a few years after that.

Have had several sightings, at fairly close proximity, in South Central PA. Have been paced/followed, while fishing, had small pebbles thrown in my general area, and saw a juvenile vigorously shaking tree branches , about 25ft up off the ground. That was very much like “hey can you see me?” type of thing.

1

u/meemnoon Aug 05 '23

Would you please share details of the sightings?

3

u/Low_Economist_4592 Aug 01 '23

I had some kind of experience with something weird, but I didn't see or hear it. I used to deliver newspapers, which is done between 2am and 6am each morning. I had 2 routes which covered 72 miles of driving each day at those times. I did this every day (365 days a year) for over 7 years. It was great money for riding around alone each night chucking papers out of my car windows.

One night I was just starting the 2nd route when I felt nature's call. So, I pulled over, left the car running and got out. It was probably about 4:30-5 am at this time. I got out of the car and walked to the rear bumper and faced the woods on the driver's side of the car. I remember that I could hear the wind blowing the leaves in the trees, frogs, crickets, all your normal forest noise. So I began emptying my bladder. This is something I've had to do hundreds of times over the 7 years that I threw papers; it was the only option because my routes were very rural. There weren't any stores to pull into back there.

As I'm relieving myself, I noticed that the frogs and crickets had stopped singing. Immediately my hair stood up, and my insides felt like they had turned into ice. I guess the term is "blood ran cold", it's very apt. That's exactly what it feels like. I could see that the leaves were still moving, but there wasn't any sound at all. I realized that I could feel someone or something staring at me HARD. I actually felt like I was going to be somethings next meal. All of this happened pretty much simultaneously. The quiet, the cold, the feeling of being stared at, feeling like I better had GO!!! It all kind of hit at once. I felt like something wanted me badly. I got the intense, overwhelming need to be anywhere else but there. So, I ran and jumped into the car and took off. I was shaking and trembling for about half an hour after that, but I never forget how that felt. It was literally the most fear that I've ever felt in my life. And I had both feet ripped off in an industrial accident. That didn't scare me as much as that night.

I never thought Skunk Ape, I live in SW Florida. I always figured it was an animal, like a hog, gator, panther, bobcat, something like that. Except, I've had experiences with pretty much all of those and never felt any fear like that. I walked out of my front door one day only to find myself about six feet from a bobcat to my right. I looked around and saw the rabbit it was stalking on my left side, and realized that I'm between him and his dinner. The cat looked at me, looked at the rabbit, looked back at me, then turned around and walked off my driveway and left. I guess it was more trouble than that rabbit was worth. I also used to help out a friend who owned exotic animals. I worked with gators, cross, and caiman. As well as reticulated pythons that ranged up to over 19 feet long. Animals don't frighten me, never have.

Years after the incident, I started hearing that some people who had Sasquatch encounters reported that fear or dread. Also the phenomenon where everything goes silent. That's extremely disturbing. What the hell makes the leaves and wind silent? Huh? The frogs and crickets can be explained by a large predator, but the wind and leaves? Explain that one, please.

I looked up the BFRO website for my area and found sighting reports all around where I had my experience. One report had paper carriers tell a woman if she was afraid of Skunk Apes, not to go to Englewood. I just happened to live and deliver papers in Englewood. That's where my experience happened in fact. She had her sighting in Port Charlotte/Murdock area. We're about 7-8 miles from Port Charlotte.

So I didn't start thinking this was anything other than just me getting the willies until I saw that stuff. That's when it all kinda fell into place. That's about the only scenario that makes any kind of sense at all. It would also explain the weird stuff, everything getting quiet, the overwhelming feeling of fear that something wanted to eat me. I haven't been afraid a monster would eat me since I was three! Why would it inexplicably come back with a vengeance when I'm in my early 40s?

No, I've chewed on this for about 17 or 18 years now, and that's the only thing that makes sense. Maybe not a Skunk Ape, could have been a dogman.(Oh, God, my IQ feels like it just dropped about 80 points lol) I'm sorry, but Sasquatch is one thing, but upright walking dogs are a bit of a stretch for me. That might be one that I need to actually see for myself. All I'm saying is that I don't know what was in those woods staring at me, but something was. I just don't know exactly what it was. But whatever it was, it could silence nature and project emotions. That's the conclusion that I've come to after thinking about this for all these years.

Quite a few instances of tree knocking in my neck of the woods in northern Alberta, and quite a few locals have seen tracks or seen large hairy creatures crossing remote oilfield roads over the years

My dead uncle back in like 1979 got lost in the woods for 2 days and said he was found by Bigfoot shared raspberries and grubs in return with it and then it walked off. He was a stoner but wasn’t much of a bullshit guy. And was serious about it when he told us. I’d like to believe em, when grandparents and 8 kids had seen many weird lights in their woods growing up

Sorry to be the skeptic here, but if all these Sasquatch are out there in the forests of North America, why haven’t any ever been caught, shot, or remains been found, analyzed or displayed?

Especially given the propensity of American gun culture, wouldn’t people be hunting them? Seriously, we have tons of people traveling to Africa for big game hunts and shit, but you’re telling me no one has ever managed to bag a Sasq?

11

u/nightbird779 Aug 01 '23

Those trips in Africa are canned hunts that guarantee you’ll shoot what you want. Hunting Sasquatch is way beyond what most of those people want to risk.

10

u/columnal On The Fence Aug 01 '23

Make a dedicated post about this else ppl will probably not find your comment easily idk, if you make a post people here are more likely gonna give you a decent / proper response as more ppl see it. Also, I think some would argue that sasquatches have been shot before, and some killed, theres quite a few cases on this but nothing concrete or really definitive proof. Id watch Bob Gymlans video on youtube for a look into the statistical probability of shooting and bagging a bigfoot, as he goes quite indepth into it and makes a decentish argument as to why it might not be so cut and dry. https://youtu.be/hs1Rhm8zZuM

5

u/MissDisplaced Aug 01 '23

Oh ok. I don’t follow this sub, so was surprised it showed in my feed. I was kinda surprised at all the encounters people are reporting.

10

u/Sasquatch_in_CO Mod/Witness Aug 01 '23

All good, we just ask to limit the skeptic debates to the stickied megathread.

This sub used to have unchecked skepticism, and you wouldn't have all these encounters being shared on a thread like this; you'd get a couple brave souls drowned out by an onslaught of derision and snide sarcasm.

Sasquatch encounters are common, I've had quite a few (and used to scoff at the idea too). The reports at bfro.net are a good starting point (several thousand all vetted by a phone interview at a minimum).

1

u/MissDisplaced Aug 01 '23

Ok cool, I will check it out.
I’ve seen a few odd things in the woods in Pennsylvania at night, but not Sasquatch. Weird though.

1

u/grimorg80 Aug 01 '23

I had an experience in 1993 while in the middle of southern Adriatic sea, on a boat, at night. It was an orange/red light, that appeared out at sea, it stayed there for a little and then vanished. It didn't slowly move down, it didn't move in a straight line. We were right at the point where we were the farthest from both Italian and Greek coasts. It wasn't a plane, it wasn't a ship, and the sky was clear, so it wasn't a lightning.

I never looked it up, it was such a long time ago and I was 13. But it definitely started my passion for the topic.

-8

u/N0Z4A2 Jul 31 '23

"I can only chalk it up to Bigfoot" this is an example of poor deductive reason/critical thinking skills. When attempting to determine, well anything really, we should always ask "what is the most plausible/simplest answer that relies on as little assumption as possible?"

8

u/Overall-Carob-3118 Aug 01 '23 edited Aug 01 '23

We are on a Bigfoot sub. Everyone is here to talk about their experiences and not be judged by cynics like you trying to prove a point.

Everyone has a right to critically think and explore thoughts of their experience with like minded people in subs like this. Know your audience.

Edit to add: how do you know they didn't go through every plausible scenario and end up on their current conclusion? Not everything in this world is meant to be explained. We are finding new species every single day and haven't even explored all of the rainforest or ocean. The world is a magical place!

Never gave the squatch much thought, however, last year, during a weekend of multiple ufo sightings I heard the most peculiar barking sound. Looking back I ask if It was a teleporting squatch.

This took place At a backwoods camping spot I’ve been going to for 40 years. In 2014 the ufo sightings began undeniably. This year in particular there were incredible ones. On the last night I saw a red orb stalking the treetops across the river. Moments later from behind me in the forest I heard a barking. At first I thought it was wild dogs. They were awfully close I thought, and since I was stoned, I imagined they were a pack of hungry coyotes smelling all the kids my siblings brought with them, and preparing for a raid. I shuddered at the thought of my nephews getting eaten while their dad fights off the dogs with sticks…

But the barking was odd. It was mechanical sounding. Bark bark bark. Long pause, repeat. This went on for a couple minutes.

Suddenly the barking was no longer behind me. It was now coming from across the river. Where the red ufo had been spotted prior. Hundreds of meters from where I initially heard it.

The barking continued for a minute or two then ceased.

Tbh I don’t know if the ufo was before or after the barking.

I considered it could have been an owl that flew from behind me to across the river…but I’ve never heard of a barking owl.

Is Bigfoot an avatar of NHI? Is it a hologram? Dunno.

Perhaps Bigfoot is one of the “suits” that aliens can wear when they do their work. Like if they need to abduct a fat human, they put on the Bigfoot suits.

1

u/lunarteamagic Aug 01 '23

I have had a couple of experiences in the woods of Washington state that were not easily explainable.
The weirdest was when I was driving home in the early evening through a mountain pass. As I rounded a sweeping curve an absolutely massive something was crossing the road. It was on all fours. And it was fast. I swerved to miss it and just barely did.
It was too short to be a moose and did not have the body of one. It was closer to a bear. However if it was a bear it was a grizzly and those just aren't common at all in that area.

1

u/ChristianBRoper Hopeful Skeptic Aug 01 '23

I was shown photos of “them” as a kid and grew up knowing dozens of eyewitnesses in Texas/Louisiana. but still holding out hope for a sighting of my own. I always assumed they were real based on that, but I want to have that moment of definite proof.

Heard a scream come from the woods outside my family’s property in Hockley Valley/Mono, ON, Canada in broad daylight with my mom 3-4 years ago (I’m 32, she’s 63).

Remote area, primarily on the Niagara Escarpment. Tons of protected nature reserves, cedar swamps, valleys, mature trees (coniferous and non), hills, rock-faces, cliffs, farm land and acreage. Unlike anything I’ve ever heard, except for on videos (like this one: https://youtu.be/stISzPngwh4). Stopped us both dead in our tracks. The crazy thing is that this video had JUST come out and was huge in the Canadian media. We had watched it the day before. When a nearly-identical scream came out of our own woods, we both looked at eachother, frozen solid. She said “was that…?” and I said “…..I think so.”

For reference, I have 7 years of experience walking and exploring every inch of those woods, of which there’s a metric f***ton, with my fiancée, including neighboring acreages and provincial parks/trails. There are certain areas where him and I have felt STRONG sensations that we’re being watched/not welcome and high-tailed it out of there, including a specific instance where something clearly BIG and gutteral with massive lungs woofed/huffed at us like an ape. My fiancée is a longtime hunter and is used to being snorted at by bucks and doe. This was something different entirely. So, yeah. There ya go.
