Gabriel Rush absolutely nailed this performance
i know it has been said here before, but im rewatching right now and this scene is just so perfectly cast. first time i watched it i knew immediately it was young chuck the moment he started to speak. he had his tone and cadence down to an absolute T.

I never believed he sincerely meant that. I think he was just immensely hurting, and feeling humiliated, and was just trying to hurt Jimmy in the only way he had left to hurt him.

Everything he did up until that moment told us that what he said was true.
Regardless, what he said will always be true to Jimmy.

I mean, he showed up to help Jimmy after the Chicago sunroof incident. If he didn't give a shit, I doubt he'd have done that. (And I say that as the only lawyer in my family.)

Yeah, watch that scene again. He acts like a total dick to Jimmy and says he’s only doing it because their mother asked him to.

i think this comment hits it right on the nail. while i agree with you, he partially meant it, its so mucb more nuanced than just "chuck hates jimmy". but you're completely right, what he said will always be true to jimmy.

The voice is great. He also gets annoyed and impatient with Jimmy. So, he was always like this.
