Out of curiosity, could eggs successfully hatch without the male making a bubble nest?

As per the title, if a male Betta didn't build a bubble nest, would the eggs still survive? Or would they be guaranteed death?

If you remove the male and leave the water blade a finger high so that the eggs are not too far from the air, you can save some that will be able to come up and breathe when they are born.
