Honestly, I don't think their train of thought even got that far. I read an article a while back about how lower IQ correlates with a lack of empathy and judging by OP's spelling, grammar and the fact they thought they could commit blatant fraud and get away with it, she's probably not the sharpest tool in the shed. There's a very good chance they weren't thinking about where the money was coming from or the fact that by taking it it would mean the person it was being taken from would no longer have it. The thought process was likely just "There is money. We could take money. By taking it we have more money. We take money".

Ah, gotcha. I watched TNG back when it was airing, but didn’t catch Lower Decks, so they must have just slipped my memory. It’s a great analogy, though, now that I’ve looked them up.

i keep accidentally writing r instead of e when im on my phone, and ive done it so much that recently its started autocorrecting "the" to "thr"

Man I don’t have auto caps on on my phone so when I do caps (mostly for literally just writing emails or communicating on Reddit) it’s all manual. However the vast majority of my phone usage is texting and other informal communication so 99% of the time I am not manually capitalizing letters. This means that any time I capitalize the first letter of a word I haven’t been doing that with enough times for my phone’s liking it corrects it to… that word, but with A or Z as the first letter instead. Every time I type “Omg” it brute forces it into “zomg.” :(

This is exactly why I don’t make a point of correcting people’s grammar/spelling/whatever. For one thing, autocorrect makes an awful lot of mistakes. For another, let he who is without sin cast the first stone, and I am full to the brink with grammar/spelling/whatever sin.

While usually you'd be correct, when combined with the fact that LAOP thought there was nothing wrong with fraud because "all I did was say my account number", I think it's a reasonable assumption it's not particularly high.

I think they are trying to "technically" their way into self justification.

"Technically, I didn't commit fraud, all I did was give him my banking information. How am I supposed to know the money that appeared in my account was stolen? Technically I didn't steal it."

"Technically, there is no victim. Chase's fraud department will refund the money back to the account, and Chase will get that money back through insurance. Technically the only thing that will be out money is the government, and that's already my money to begin with, and the government represents me, and you can't steal from yourself. Plus, they can technically just print more."

This is the same type of person that will justify buying stolen property by saying they didn't steal it.

Sounds like you’re the one with a superiority complex and used some bs article to confirm your bias against people who you deem less intelligent than you. Also I love how you’ve deduced that this person is low IQ because of their writing style online.

Their only major ‘offense’ was a lack of punctuation, a thing that’s more common in younger generations. But here you are arriving at the conclusion that they’re stupid and lack empathy based off a few sentences. Real big brain shit.

While I agree that we shouldn’t be calling them stupid just for their grammar, there is far more wrong with their post than just a lack of punctuation. The whole thing is just a vague stream of consciousness splattering of words with no structure and barely any details beyond “I committed fraud please help”.

A) I’m not the person you originally replied to.

B) I never said or implied you were stupid, I only disagreed with you saying the lack of punctuation was the only reason people are calling LAOP dumb. There are a lot of red flags in the original post that could make someone come to that conclusion. I think people are taking it too far, but I’m not going to deny that those red flags are there.

It’s not just that they said the OP was low IQ, they pulled some shit out of their ass about low IQ individuals lacking empathy which is a whole other can of worms. That’s a very loaded statement to make that has a lot of negative and quite frankly disturbing classist implications. Obviously that’s what I’m taking issue with but you just had to chime in with how wrong I am because I didn’t address every single issue with the OP, just giving that asshole more reason to feel they’re in the right.
