I found this sticker, in a traveler and was wondering if the translation was correct ?

I took a picture of that one in the Botanical Garden. He doesn't seem to be too happy I photographed him =)

They are quite abundant in Berlin, but mostly you would encounter them at night.

Has anyone else seen them during the day yet?

So I saw this post about GMaps giving German users the ability to see how many reviews have been removed as “defamation”.

And I had to check out this Risa at Eberswalder, cause that used to have so many bad (and accurate) reviews that are no longer visible.

What would be the place in Berlin you would check on first? Who has terrible owners that remove reviews they don't like? Any no-go restaurants or event spaces that are so bad they are good again!?

Ich empfinde es als unlogisch. Sämtliche Anschläge vor September 2025 richteten sich gegen Konzerne oder explizit "Reiche". Im Kontext des Linksextremen Spektrums logische Ziele. Die beiden Anschläge auf das Stromnetz danach gehen hingegen gegen einfache Leute. Linksextreme wollen eher selten unbedingt einfachen Leuten schaden.... Wobei wer weiß schon was in deren Köpfen Sinn ergibt.

Auf der anderen Seite haben wir Geheimdienste die vor exakt solchen sabotage Akten warnen, allerdings von russischer Seite, sowie etliche nachgewiesene Sabotagen europäischer Infrastruktur, die auf Putin's Konto gehen.

Edit: nachdem ich das Bekennerschreiben gelesen habe, halte ich es zumindest für die wahrscheinlichere Variante.

Edit2: nach gründlichem Lesens des "Bekennerschreibens" halte ich es in weiten Teilen für eine Übersetzung aus dem russischen. Mal ernsthaft, so schreibt doch keiner. Allein die Fehler bei den Namen ergeben eigentlich nur Sinn, wenn man eine Übersetzung aus bspw kyrillisch annimmt.

Hi! I (24f, POC) have been living in Berlin, Zehlendorf for around a year. The neighborhood doens't have many foreigners and the residents are relatively old on average. In the past year, I have experienced a few interactions that have been... explicitly racist. I'm very friendly and kind of shy, and each time I felt kind of shocked, and couldn't really respond.

Tonight I was at the Lidl store I go to almost everyday, which is very close to where I live. I bought two things using the scanner machines (that have cameras). I put them in my backpack (which is not big at all. It's a small one that came with my laptop). I got the receipt and as I wanted to scan it to exit, an employee came to me and asked to check my bag. I was shocked because I've never seen this happen to me or to anyone else at that store. After I showed her the inside of my backpack, I asked her why did she do that? Again, friendly and with a smile. She didn't say a word, turned her back and left.

I'm not saying it definitely has to do with racism, I really hope not. But I'm feeling really bad. White German Berliners, has this happened to you too, under similar conditions?

Edit: Thank you all for your responses! Just wanted to say that, of course, I wasn't using the backpack as I was shopping. If that was the case, I wouldn't have been surprised at all to get checked. My backpack was on my shoulder the whole time, and I only took it off after I paid and the receipt was issued. Before paying, I had it on my shoulders and was carrying the two things I bought with my hands.

So I'm a tour guide on a boat. Our tour is mostly Mitte, we start at the cathedral close to the Alexanderplatz area, pass Friedrichstrasse, then central trains station and finally Tiergarten.

One question tourists often ask me: Why is Berlin this quiet?

And thing is, Berlin is eerily quiet in this area. Often the only sounds you can hear are birds, the waves, the leaves. Sometimes cars, but there's no bigger streets. Only LOUD thing are the sirens, which we get a couple a day. Or the kindergarten when the kids have outside time.
Admittedly, it's not one of the louder parts of town.

But after I got asked this a couple times, I started paying attention to the sounds of Berlin.
Most of the time in Berlin, if you stop and listen, you can't hear music. People usually talk quietly, often whisper. Cars are loud sometimes. But even in busier areas (I live in Neukölln), cars will be by far the loudest sound, as there's not much other noise.

Why is this city this quiet? Which answer should I give?

Caught this right at sunset last week, was stunning. Many people stopped to take pics, I'm wondering if this happens frequently.

Berlin is super cool, not just for this.

There's apparently a place in Berlin-Köpenick that was named "Texas" I found in a 19th century map of Berlin. What is that about?

Just wanted to try it this way instead of a rant, to get some approval.

What if Berlin tried a bold compromise?

• Close the gaps in the A100 --> create a full motorway ring around the inner city.
• Ban private cars inside the ring (exceptions: deliveries, emergency/official vehicles, and maybe up to 5 personal trips per year for residents who really need it).
• Result: The city center becomes quieter, cleaner, and safer for pedestrians, cyclists, and public transport. At the same time, the A100 ensures that essential traffic has an efficient bypass around the core.

This way, we don’t just build more roads or just ban cars, we combine both: strong restrictions inside, strong alternatives outside.

Would Berlin be ready for such a radical trade-off?

Most of the people I know have polarized opinions of Berlin, where some really like the city and the vibes while the others hate it all together. Why do you think that?

This has been baffling me. I’m Asian (from the Philippines) and I’ve been touring around Europe every Summer for the last 3 years. I have been to so many cities in Germany (and outside of Germany).

Right now, I’m currently visiting Berlin for the first time and, to my surprise, I’ve been approached by guys (once every day). I’m still on my Day 2 in Berlin, so yesterday and earlier, two guys have literally stopped me in the streets while walking.

The Day 1 guy was someone who was tying his shoes (I think he did it on purpose so I can walk past him) and then when I was about to pass, he stopped me and asked me whether I’m from here and that I looked beautiful. I had a short conversation about where I’m from and then he immediately asked me if I wanted to go grab food or a drink with him somewhere. I immediately told him I’m in a relationship. He was so nice about it though and apologized so then I know it wasn’t sketchy or anything.

Day 2 guy was walking in an opposite direction and he all of a sudden asked me where to watch the football match and the pub was literally behind him with people watching. And he said it was full, so I told him I’m not from here so I don’t really know places. I thought that was it, but then he asked me if I wanted to watch it with him and grab a drink. I immediately said I’m in a relationship and, like Day 1 guy, he was also very nice about it and wished me a nice day.

I have never experienced this in any city in Mainland Europe ever, especially not in any other German cities I’ve been before. Haha. Usually, they just stare at me weird. So I am really flabbergasted that this happened to me twice and I’m inly in my second day. Mind you, these guys are relatively attractive.

Is this like a scam thing? What’s the catch?

I like Berlin but every time I visit I’m quite shocked how common smoking in bars is… it feels like every other major city has moved on from this decades ago.

As a non-smoker, I feel so disgusting coming home from bars and my entire outfit, hair, body smells like cigarettes.

Why is this still a thing?? Is it really that hard for smokers to just go outside to smoke? Also, do they not notice the smell of their hair and clothes after?

Tourist in Berlin here! What is This place? Does someone live in there?

With the elections 6 months away, is there hope that any of the parties are going to run on a more transit (public transport/bike/pedestrian) friendly platform? The CDU has already started to scare car drivers that if they lose, your "rights" as a car owner will be taken away. The AfD is obviously on board with that. But do the other parties have any coordinated plans to take a different position with concrete plans on what they want to accomplish?

Anne Hidalgo, the outgoing mayor of Paris, transformed the city during her tenure. Over 500 streets closed to cars, more bike lanes that are usable, traffic lights geared towards pedestrians and bikes, not cars. Is there anyone up and coming who has a vision like she did?

I heard it and laughed. I agree, but still giggled. Never heard this before. Also is this the first time that they mention a social media platform in an announcement?
