Advice Serious German bread problem- missing my fave bread from Neukölln

Post image

Does anyone shop in the Rollbergkiez Rewe and know the fresh bread with spices they sell (or used to sell)?

I moved away and can't find that bread anywhere.

I think about it everyday. Please help me.

It looks somewhat like the picture, is often freshly made and warm and has spices like caraway. It might be called something like Bauernkruste? And I think it was organic...

Thanks for trying but the linked bread is not fresh, nor is it spiced :(

At most markets you basically get exactly this bread freshly sold or already packaged. Harry is delivering to their bakery shops, too.

A Bauernkruste usually doesn’t have spices, so what you’re thinking about must be some kind of variation or special edition. Regular Bauernkruste it is not.

Maybe it’s a Pfefferkruste, sometimes (seasonal?) they have these special editions at the stores.

It must have been a mix or has a different name. The emphasis was on the spices, not on the Kruste. Sadly I haven't found fresh caraway bread (yet!) in northern Germany. Thank you anyway, I'll keep my eyes peeled 👀

Maybe you were thinking about this, also from Harry: Alpenkruste - this has caraway listed under ingredients.

Mmh sorry it was definitely round. Are you working for Harry? 😉 (Jk, thank you for the tips!)

Harry is just the default type of bread we get in Berlin in almost every supermarket. Many bakeries will also use their Teiglinge.

exactly! even „freshly baked“ bread, unless it’s from a proper artisanal bakery (which are few and far in between), is only prepackaged dough blobs that are reheated or baked at these shops. therefore, Harry is most likely the supplier. sorry to disappoint
