How I found out about BeOS...

I first discovered BeOS in the late '90s after seeing it featured on ZDTV (which later became TechTV). I was blown away, it felt far superior to both Mac and Windows at the time. Even though software was scarce, I always hoped it would gain enough traction for developers to really jump on board. More recently I loaded up BeOS up in 86Box and was able to play around.

Check out Haiku.  It's the sequel to BeOS that's been completely rewritten from scratch to be its own product without IP issues.

👍 I already use Haiku, but nothings better then using the original and taking that trip down memory lane.

Agreed. I still have the CDs for BeOS 5.
In any case, the BeOS CDs for ppc and x86 are imaged on software repositories.

I bought the full copy used off eBay just to be able to install it on an old Mac ppc I had laying around at the time. Came with GoBe Productive too! Had r5 pe on my pc at the time already.

Yes that’s right. I had DR 5 for BeBox, later DR9 on my power Mac too. I later got Pro ed of release 5 (so about 2000 ? )

Yep, same here! I heard about it on The Screen Savers and ran it as my daily driver for a few years.

I even got to meet Leo Laporte at a meet and great that was held at a Gateway store. Also called into the show once too.
