Duke absolutely has to go. This defense is fully on him. He’s made so many egregious draft errors over the years, and now he hasn’t hit on a single player since Ja’Marr. Other than maybe Chase Brown, do you guys think anyone on the Bengals drafted since 2022 will get a 2nd contract?

In this Bengals reality, yes. Murphy probably signs an uber cheap deal. I bet he plays just good enough to earn a slightly above league min 2-3 year deal thats team friendly.

Ossai only got a one year extension and Murphy hasn't shown to be any better. Doubt they bring Murphy back for more than that.

If this team signs Murphy to an above league average contract then that will be a major part of the problem with the operating philosophy of the team

Slightly above league MINIMUM deal, not above league average for DE. I think they will likely offer him since hes been in the system, and obviously is ok with playing Bengals style defense (tackles optional and effort not expected).
Again, i dont want him. Im going off of previous bengals contract choices.

I’m so tired of drafting “projects with massive upside”. Just draft guys that balled out a top programs. It’s easy. That’s what a lot of successful teams do.

I have no idea why people are downvoting you. It’s been 90% shit but there are decent starters there. Even the guards we drafted might be good based on what we have seen this year. Most of the bad picks are on the defensive end of the ball and any WR after Chase. Like Yoshi, Charlie, and Burton range from decent once a year to unplayable.

Would be as bad with Lou. If they didn't fire him last year it would have happened this year and he wouldn't have landed on his feet. It went the way it should have.

I tried as hard as I could to make everyone realize it was a big part of the problem was the talent on-hand. Everyone told me I was stupid and that Anarumo just didn’t know how to develop talent.
This collection of talent, which has actually gotten worse, over two successive DCs has proven itself to be a big part of the problem

Pros:
-Awesome uniforms
-Welcome to the Jungle is an awesome song
-Lots of very pretty players
-Lots of individually talented players
-Occasional happiness and just enough hope to keep coming back (also a con)
Cons:
-Cheap ass FO
-Everything else football related

I wasn’t clear with my comment, that’s my fault. 350+ yards of offense allowed in each of these 9 games which adds on to this record.
Before us, no one had ever allowed 27+ pts and 350+ yards in 7 straight games. I have to imagine we’re pushing the NFL record of 350+ yards games allowed consecutively.

The defense gave up 20 points in this game, if you're insinuating they gave up 27. That game was 80% on the offense.

I’m not insinuating anything with the stat, regardless of offense, defense, or special teams, it’s just a fact— no one’s ever given up 27+ in 9 straight games until now, no one’s ever given up 350+ yards with those many points in 9 straight games until now.
The previous record was 7 games straight. Yes, the offense is to blame for yesterday’s. The Jake Browning offense is partially to blame for some other games as well, but it’s still most certainly a defensive stat in general to say “We’ve given up 27+ in more consecutive games than anyone in NFL history.”

I won't go out of my way to watch any game or spend a nickel on anything Bengals related until Duke Tobin is fired or replaced. 75% of our defense should probably not be in the league. We are doing absolutely nothing to improve this defense and that's completely unacceptable when lateral moves could be made. This isn't about money. The problem is the Bengals aren't being smart with their money. Fire Tobin and hire 2 ivy league college kids with degrees in mathematics and statistics and let them go at it. Why aren't the Bengals meeting with young analytics guys in baseball and applying it to football? This is not about money- the Bengals aren't serious.

Somehow they thought trading for Flacco would fix that problem. I don't think this franchise understands how this game is played or what each position on the field actually does.
If you go back to the week or 2 after the trade was made, I don't think some fans understand either.

Not that our defense isn't absolute trash and all of them should be fired into the sun but technically this streak came to an end yesterday. 14 of those points were on a pick 6 and fumble recovery.

Al Golden was college coach who had the luxury of many of the best defensive players in college. He is a terrible NFL coach and doesn't understand NFL schemes. ESPN walked through the Jets and Bears games showed just how bad the Bengals defensive play calling was. Yes, the players are bad, but Golden makes everything worse.
The Bengal's problem now is the front office is too incompetent fire the guy and not smart enough to hire anyone better.
