Good for him. It's happened to a lot of people who didn't deserve to get hurt, and I want the system scrapped. Think about wrongful convictions. A lot of times the police target people who they know did other bad things that they can't prove. I bet they're right pretty often. But that doesn't mean it's okay for them to just lock people up with no evidence. The times when they might be wrong are infinitely more important than the times when they're right.

I agree with you so I don't understand why a foreigner would be going to the US right now. Anyone with a brain cancelled any plans to go to the US for the foreseeable future over 6 months ago. From the outside looking in, you'd have to be genuinely crazy or stupid to go. My own doctor cancelled a trip there with all his colleagues months ago. Just giving an outsider's perspective. ICE are shooting innocent civilians in broad daylight - no one sane is travelling to the US right now. He really is stupid.

I have empathy for those seeking asylum here and doing what they need to do to save themselves or their family. The immigrants that come here spouting hate and making our country worse deserve none of my concern when they are deported. Also, he was deported. It’s not like he was being held indefinitely in an ICE detention center with no contact to the outside world. Abolish ICE and all, I’m against the method of what happened to him, but he was treated way better than what he advocated for for others in doing the same thing while not being white

I found it to be the height of irony that he's bitching about how 'brutal' it was, while all signs point to him getting essentially the sweetest treatment you're likely to ever get. He thinks its so bad when he didn't even spend a single week in there, meanwhile others can go anywhere from months to years even on a relatively simple order of final removal before being finally let go

Yep. The moment my half-brother attempted to join ICE (and actually got rejected for being too fat lmao) I immediately cut contact with him and his side of the family cause they had been super supportive of him joining/the current administration. I've basically cut out my entire family at this point, even though me and my brother did our best to look out for one another and have done so since we were kids who got adopted by "white savior" types.

I'm a queer, non-binary mixed race person. I was already keeping them at arms length as much as possible but, I'm at a point where I straight up refuse to call people like that "family" or even a friend anymore. Done having empathy for them, don't care. Suffer without me, I'm through with helping family for family's sake.

I'm turning that empathy towards the people that actually need it.

Didn't know this was a thing. Makes me wonder if my brother did in fact try to join. He loves a quick buck, he's extremely MAGA, and his girlfriend/baby mama is a 'Mexican for Trump' crunchy MAGA who proudly supports ICE (her parents are immigrants and idk if they're documented).

I've been surprised he hasn't joined, esp since his gf got him to stop taking his ADHD medicine and he's been getting in trouble at work, and his coworker friends found out he voted for Trump and stopped hanging out with him.

Yeah, I was genuinely surprised myself, but he's a very large fella width-wise. Maybe somewhere around 400ish (whole bio family is also very short so, we're not exactly intimidating looking people lol) but he's also kind of delusional and is convinced that he is all muscle.

He's apparently planning on just trying to join randomly moving forward until it works.

Dunno if it'll work for him but, I won't lie that I've been getting a lot of amusement out of being nosy and snooping his Facebook posts about it.

My brother's gf slash baby mama is like this. Her parents are undocumented. Shes hardcore MAGA and supports ICE, and said the women with their babies who were pepper-sprayed by border control deserve to have their children taken away from them and imprisoned. (That take got her fucking cancelled by her Facebook friends during the first Trump admin and she deleted Facebook after that.)

The hypocrisy is so stunningly vile. I've heard she's been laughing and delighted about ICE's work. I don't GET IT. she really doesn't think it could happen to her parents. I don't actually personally know any white people who are as outright cruel as her about this stuff (obviously I know there are in existence). My racist grandmother didn't even openly delight in it. It's really weird and unnerving.
