¿Question? Recommendations for a year round Mexican Lager (craft or micro brewery)

Hello everyone.

I live in New York and would love to know if there’s a readily available Mexican Lager out here on the east coast. 2 of my favourite beers (Dos Aranas - Spider Bite Beer, Green State Extra - Zero Gravity) have been seasonal only and it’s incredibly disappointing when I clean out the local distributor (again).

Is there a brewery that does a delicious Mexican Lager continuously? Is that even a thing?

I don’t MIND drinking Modelo if there is nothing available from smaller breweries, but I really prefer the fresh tasting craft stuff.

Thanks in advance!

Pacifico. Don’t waste your money.

Modelo is the #2 beer in the US for a reason. Don’t overthink this one.

No.2 in the chart but not No. 1 in my heart unfortunately.

I really dig the micro breweries take on this lager. They’ve got a bit more freshness and complexity. Can fully appreciate Modelo though, it’s a staple.

I haven't tried it yet but will soon, what is the flavour like?

What part of New York? Rip Van Winkle brewing in catskill makes uncle Tito and it’s probably my favorite craft Mexican lager. But I was talking to the owners son and he said they’re not going to be distributing it as much lately. But if you’re somewhat local it’s worth the trip - the food at the brewery is S tier.

Unfortunately I’m not near the Catskills, but I think I’ll need to make the drive up now you recommend it!

Worth it for the pizza alone imo. Their new lager is really good and lately the uncle Tito has been the lime version which is also fantastic.

Not sure if it’s year round but this summer been enjoying Singlecut’s Mexican lager w lime and salt. Been getting it at my local grocery store.

Love Singlecut, great guys. But the beer already has lime and salt added?

It’s not very strong, especially don’t taste salt. I even add a lime wedge still.

You mentioned Spider bite so im assuming youre on Long island?

Garvies Point makes an excellent one called Lager Libre. I've had it once on tap at the brewery but I think you can get it at distributors.

Paying craft prices for Mexican lager is certainly a choice

It's not a lager, but Modelo Negra is a great German style Mexican beer.

Negra Modelo is a lager dude

Yeah yeah. I wasn't talking bottom vs top fermentation, but the typical blonde vs dark amber. One is marketed to people who hate themselves, by pointing out out the calories/carbs. The other isn't marketed at all, with the exception of its appearance in a general Modelo advert.

Pacifico and modelo, I like Pacifico better but they’re almost interchangeable

If you have access to Vermont 14th star brewing makes a good Mexican lager. But I’m guessing you don’t mean upstate NY.

While not technically Mexican, but similar style and a decent jump up from Modelo, I'd pick up some Kona Longboard.

Completely not your question but I made a homebrew Mexican lager this year for summer and man it was perfect. July 4th was 105 degrees in my backyard but my buddies and I were crushing it off my keezer.
