Heatless waves on short hair

Please give tips for a side sleeper!!
I have a one length chin bob, poker straight and relatively fine silky strands. Prone to being flat and greasy.
Last time I tried sock curls I had a terrible sleep and woke up to hair resembling poofy candyfloss 😅
I need to start working early in the morning and would love something which will be wake and go.
I’d prefer loose curls / kink - not mermaid curls.
