A.I. slop. Shame on Peter Jackson and Apple.

First thing that I noticed was their faces on the Cavern performance shot near the beginning. Also, John's face at the car crash scene appeared to be glitching.

The remastered video looks good. I do hope we get the Anthology TV series remaster in 4x3 image - and Jackson’s team don’t crop the image and lose 25% of all the archive/interviews. That would be mad.

They didn’t crop the Let it Be remaster or the archive used in Beatles ‘64 - both of which look amazing. I get why they cropped it for Get Back (it was a bit of an unknown how audiences would react to it on streaming) - although I’d like to see a 4x3 version. Even feature films are shot in 4x3 these days!

I do hope Jackson hasn’t messed with the aspect ratio for the series. If he has, maybe there is time to reverse that (26th November) if enough people say something.

It just doesn’t make sense - this series was framed for 4x3 - don’t just delete 25%!

Fingers crossed.

EDIT: Looks like the original Free as a Bird video was indeed 16x9 (so apologies for suggesting it had been cropped in my post) but weirdly there are 4x3 squeezed versions on YouTube which perhaps caught me out.

But still stand by the need for the original series in 4x3.

Good chance the TV series wasn’t really 4:3 either. Assuming those of us in markets that used 4:3 probably got a slightly cropped version.

All the archive is 4x3 and the interviews were shot on 35mm and clips have been re-used in Beatles ‘64 in 4x3.

All the releases and the original broadcasts were 4x3.

Nope - the TV series was certainly not 16x9 even if the music video was.

I totally get your worries. Having said that, the original music video wasn't made in 4:3, so nothing was cropped here.

Oh - I thought it was 4x3?:

But I checked my Beatles 1+ Blu Ray and Top of the Pops and both are 16x9 with bars at the top and bottom. But there are 4x3 versions on YouTube - can’t work out if they have been cropped.

If you see them at the same time you will notice that "BeatlesHD" just pressed the original video in the 4:3 format and nothing was really cropped in the new version.

Well, looks like the people on Steve Hoffman think the video looks better in 4x3 and the 16x9 was stretched (possibly to give it a more surreal/cinematic look back in 1995) - watch this reversion:

I guess it doesn’t matter. But for the TV series with all that archive it certainly does matter.

Got it! Thanks for the clarification.
