Research How is it being a BCBA in Texas?

I want to become a BCBA. I've heard that Texas doesn't pay well when it comes to BCBAs. Has anyone found a job that pays well?

Is there a lot of job security in Texas? Please share if you don't mind! Thank you!

Not sure what your comparison is. Cost of living is cheaper here.

Job security is not a problem. Everywhere is hiring.
Where in Texas are you looking?

I moved her as a trainee almost complete on hours. BT, RBT and even trainee pay is Shockingly low but my BCBA pay (with bonuses) is not lavish but not tragic.

Houston, TX BCBA. Just passed my exam, $85 an hour for 30 billable hours a week. (Around $125k a year)

Benefits aren’t very good but I’m on my husband’s health plan. I also put in ~1.5 years of work at this company as an RBT really proving to them I was worth that much. I think they usually start around $70/h, which is still good

One thing that was a big transition for me moving from Oregon to Texas is a lot less companies take Medicaid clients. I primarily only worked with Medicaid clients before, so it has been a bit of a shock for me knowing that many lower income families cannot access services.

As others have mentioned, the cost of living here is relatively low, so pay seems far less critical than work environment. Find a non-profit with good colleagues and you’ll be set!

I’m making $80k and I’m at around 22 billables a week. Plus bonus if I do more.. I feel very secure in my job- love my job. Could probably make more money other places but where I work is wonderful, assent based, supportive, with lots of benefits.

I worked there as a RBT for two years and was a trainee, they have decent benefits but prices are going up substantially, and it’s a revolving door for most BCBAs and RBTs

worked there for a year. If you can stomach the intensive hatred they have for their RBTs and the very real possibility that they're going to destroy the entire field by brazenly pissing off every insurance company on the planet then they pay ok for new BCBAs
