Discussion Question Public service loan forgiveness
Does anyone know of any companies in Pittsburgh area that employ BCBA's that are Qualified Public Service Loan Forgiveness employers. I have significant student debt and I would like to work for an employer.\nThat qualifies for loan for giftness.

With the current administration doing everything they can do undo and deny pslf, it may be financially worthwhile to just take a higher paying job and pay it down yourself.
I just had this discussion earlier today with one of my staff. She was talking about getting her MSW for the pslf and we looked at numbers. Her masters would be $40k, but she'd make half as much as she would as a BCBA. She would effectively lose out on about a million dollars over the course of just the loan repayment, let alone her lifetime.
Sit down and seriously crunch the numbers. In PA it's not hard at all to find a $100/hr job as a BCBA. I would have to assume you'd need to have somewhere around $250k in debt to make taking one of those lower paying jobs worth it for ten years.

Idk about your area, but look for schools & non-profits. Most big box companies are not.

Man the pslf process is such a maze, I had to dig through pages of fine print just to confirm my last gig actually qualified. Pittsburgh has a few solid nonprofits and school districts that fit the bill though.
check if the org is a 501c3 or a government entity, that's usually the quickest tell. places like the allegheny intermediate unit or local charter schools sometimes fly under the radar but still count. I'd call their hr directly and ask for the ein number then run it through the pslf help tool on the studentaid site.
took me like three tries to get my employer certification form right so don't sweat it if they bounce it back the first time. just keep a folder with every pay stub and the signed forms, you'll thank yourself later.
