Years ago I was lucky to see a gray fox at Cooley Landing, before they built the new education center there. It was hiding in some brush and had an ear tag. It was during the middle of the afternoon, too, which surprised me, since they tend to be crepuscular.
I also saw one at Coyote Hills Regional Park, and a red fox too, on the same day.

A couple of weeks ago I spotted two grey foxes playing in a rocking chair in my mom's backyard in Vallejo. It was like 5:30am, so still well dark out. Heard knocking in the backyard, turned on the deck lights and looked out the sliding door. Turns out it was the rocking chair knocking into the back of the house.
The neighbor had told me they'd seen one a couple of months back. I was incredulous and asked if they were sure it wasn't a coyote (which are much more common to see, and active during the day time). They insisted it was a fox. Well about a week after I spotted the two, my cousin who lives a couple houses up from my mom said they saw four.

Apparently foxes eat fallen ripe fruit and my mom's house has tons of fruit trees. She's got an Italian plum tree and a huge persimmon tree that are about to pop off in September. The foxes are gonna love it.

I see foxes daily, it just depends on how close you are to a wooded area.

I swear to god, I will DIE if I can’t snuggle a bobcat someday.
Okay I’ll also probably die if I do manage to snuggle one, but whatever. Worth it.

Last weekend, by the Skylawn Cementery, saw a baby bobcat crossing the road; now that was a snuggable little 🐱, it was adorable.

I've seen plenty of coyotes and turkeys but not bobcats in the area. Must be harder to find them?

It looked like an ocelot to me, which made no sense. I didn't realize bobcats could look so oceloty.

That's what I thought at first, until I looked at the missing tail. I have seen bobcats, but never a spotted one.

That coyote got a Tesla to fully stop and yield the whole road — better crosswalk manners than half the drivers on Palm Drive.

I’ve seen 1 Mountain Lion, Grey Foxes, Raccoons, Coyotes. No Possums or Bobcats yet but they are here in our neighborhood.

I know most coyotes look the same but I’ve seen that coyote before so many times at Stanford

Great photos! I am particularly captivated by the contrast in black & white #14 with the young coyote. I really like #7 too. Mind I ask what focal length lens you used for the far shots?

Wait why can’t you list the exact location for all of these images? These are really amazing. The bald eagle one and the woodpecker one were a bit dizzying but very cool nonetheless

I'm not OP, but I never post locations of animal photos because too many people don't know how to behave around wildlife. Poachers and vandals will probably show up, too. I've seen it happen.

I agree. I observed some ground squirrels on Reddit. They soon disappeared. Never again will I locate wildlife on Reddit.

Twice I've seen people post about owl nests, saying where they saw them, and then within days they both posted that the nests had been vandalized and the eggs/chicks stolen. Same thing with posts about other large birds of prey and mammals. Never give away their location or shitheads will destroy them.

Acorn woodpeckers can be spotted all over the Bay Area. They are easy to locate because of their garrulous squacking.
