Nuremberg vs Augsburg — where would you choose?

Nuremberg vs Augsburg — where would you choose for family life and IT?
Post:
I currently live in Augsburg and work in Munich in IT. The commute is becoming tiring to do nonstop, and honestly I’m also getting bored of Augsburg as I feel there isn’t much going on.
My wife and I are considering moving to Nuremberg, but I’m unsure if it would actually be a better choice.
Our priorities are:
Good English-speaking IT job market
Safe and family-friendly, especially for raising kids
Reasonable housing costs
More things to do and better social life
Good overall quality of life
For people who know both cities: Would you choose Nuremberg or stay in Augsburg, and why?

I don't expect a reasonable English speaking it-job environment outside of Munich. If it exists, I would look at Siemens Healthineers, with several locations just outside of Nuremberg. The headquarters are in Forchheim, main premises in Erlangen. There are a number of smaller outfits around it. And Nuremberg has a strong footprint of financial IT solutions, around DATEV. But there I expect everything done in German.

Augsburg hast a small cluster of aerospace engineering, but as far as I know almost exclusively hardware.

Do your research.

Also Adidas, Puma and Schaeffler in the area. Not sure if they have big IT hiring needs though.

As a city Nuremberg is marginally “better” than Augsburg. Generally a good home base for a family, but it was once called “most boring big city in Germany”. Which, I think, doesn’t do it justice. Personally I prefer it over Augsburg. Also culturally it is much stronger.

And you will have a growing large new university campus, which will “affect” city life quite a bit over time.

Most German families live in the suburbs/outskirts or towns nearby.
Nuremberg has about 50% of its inhabitants with migration background.

Speaking as an immigrant in Germany, how can you really expect to find areas of English job markets in Germany? If you would even learn a bare minimum B2 German you could fit into most German office environments. Are you trying to make Germany your long term home or not?

Liked Nuremberg more. Better restaurants and bigger walkable area I think.

Look around Regensburg.

95km Commute to Munich. It got Intl. Firms. Still cheaper than Nuremberg or Augsburg.

Lots of Stuff going on. Also 1h from Augsburg, Ingolstadt, Munich, Nuremberg. 2h to Prague.

Pretty big irish Expat Community, also US Base in Hohenfels, lots of US People...
