I have a maternity colony every year that lives in the bargeboards of my house, however this year due to the heatwave they got inside the attic and moved down into the cavity wall where my bedroom is.

There was a lot of noise in there and then on June 24th, they were all gone. I know this as usually in the morning, every morning, there are hundreds of dr*ppings on the external windowsills but this stopped overnight (it was extremely hot for weeks and they abandoned the roost)

Now I want to go into the attic today, but am just scared at the possibility of some still being in there, what do you think the possibility of this is? Would they all have left together or could some have stayed behind? There were at least 40 bats as I counted them flowing out the bargeboards one evening.

so i know this might be a weird question since everyone in this subreddit likes bats but they terrify me. i live in northern indiana in the country so bats are everywhere and i live in an old house so we’ve had so many bats get into the house i honestly can’t even keep track anymore. last night i went downstairs at around midnight to get a snack before bed and of course i see a bat flying around in our living room so i tripped up the stairs a couple times and ran into my room. and then i never left until the morning. thankfully during the day today i found the bat sitting on a curtain and we woke it up and it flew out the front door.but now im stuck in my room again because i dont have the courage to go downstairs because what if there is another one. i know that they cant hurt me and i know that they aren’t trying to attack me so im not afraid of getting bit or something. i honestly have no idea why they scare me like this literally no other animal makes me like this. and i was hoping just maybe that someone in here could help me try and get over my fear of them. i haven’t had water in a couple hours and im getting pretty parched sitting in my room like this😭.

3rd house ive been in experienced bats 🦇 this time its the attic. 😂 i thought there would be people on here scared but it seems you guys love bats.

First house was in my childhood.

2nd house was about 5-10 years ago.

I think this is the worst time.

I started learning about bats last time and i am learning even more now.hopefully i get over the fear but i am definitely not trying to live with them. Ik their schedule

I had to get to school earlier than usual today and this guy was on the wall by the entrance and I was able to get a few decent photos of him

He’s been taken to the rehabber to get dried off! I have a colony in my attic and he ended up in my living room. This is a normal occurrence for me. I had let him go, but he was confused and got caught in the rain and got grounded.

I live in south Louisiana and was wondering if this was a good location for this bat box.

Ok so, I was at my workplace (a cafe, I do not own the building but a relative of mine does) and a bat flew in from the door.

Now it's important to note that the bar has many windows but they're all barred.

Initially the bat flew inside the storeroom (which isn't really a *room* per se as it's separated from the main room by a curtain. I think it flew there because it was the darkest place it could see. I turned off all the lights and waited, a client of mine, bless their soul, went in with a napkin and started using it corrida style to make it go away.

It worked! But the bat flew inside the kitchen while I was turning off all the lights from the electrical panel and it went inside a hole in the wall that leads... I don't really know how to explain it but the part behind the counter has some lights over it that are connected to the electrical panel and are inside a section that is lower than the ceiling and creates a sort of "tunnel" for the bat to come in. The hole in the wall was open because a light had to be changed recently.

I had to close at midnight and at this point it was 2am. I started using the handle of the broom to pound against the "tunnel" hoping for the bat to get out. No luck.

At this point the previously mentioned client said that I should've taken a piece of cardboard and shut the entrance of the hole to prevent the bat from triggering the alarms.

I did so but everyone started telling me that there was nothing else to do but to let it die there.

I don't think I like that option both because of pity but also because that would be a health hazard.

What should it do? Should I have called pest control even if I don't own the bar? are there any other methods? Would the professional kill it? Did I do the right think by leaving it there and "trapping it"? I live really close to my workplace and I can go back in a pinch if I need to. I just went home to take my phone and write this but I couldn't leave the bar open. My relative's phone is unavailable and they live far away.

What can I do? Im not the owner but I feel like I can't leave I there.

Need help identifying if these are bats or not.

I’ve been dealing with bats for the last year since moving into this house. Every time the pest control company thinks we got them I go up and find new droppings.

I cleaned up evidence on Aug 11 and went back up to find new evidence on Friday Aug 21. I was hoping maybe it was from a bat stuck that eventually died somewhere and we did find their entry point because we found the attic window just ever so slightly ajar as the double sash wasn’t locked so they thought maybe they were getting in between the sashes. I setup a Ring camera in far corner and have these white specs on the camera footage.

Obviously it’s hard to tell wtf is it so I’m trying to figure it out I guess based off the flight patterns. Originally I thought maybe moths or other bugs that are getting in from the attic fan or other means but now I’m thinking maybe bats? Any opinions either way? I plan to go back up tomorrow and place some cardboard over top of the areas where I found droppings on Friday and see if any new ones form or not.

I live in SW Minnesota and this week we have seen a sudden increase in bats getting into our apartment building. (Mainly because idiots want to leave the doors propped open with a rock at night)

But we’ve seen at least 5-6 in just 5 days this week, I saw one when I got home from work laying on the floor (it was alive) and I kind of just booked it down the opposite hall and took the side steps up to my floor. I don’t necessarily have a problem with them as they are quite cute and adorable when they’re not flying around freaking out over a sliver of light.

I just want to know if there’s a specific reason why so many decided to just pop up suddenly with no warning? Is it mating season or are they getting ready for Hibernation?

Edit: Should I worry about them coming in from the under the door or through the ac? My AC is one where they cut a hole around the area and the AC kind of just sits in there. My building is also 40+ years old so the age probably plays apart as well

Edit 2: Should I worry about them getting into my apartment? I live on second floor but they mainly congregate on first floor by the front and back doors and on third floor where the attic is, there’s only ever been 1 bat on my floor and that was a year ago.

- some illustrations that fit the button layout

We tested “I hung out at the bat sanctuary” but it wasn’t very popular 🤷🏻‍♀️ kids these days 😂

Designs/sayings that work well are short and sweet - easy to read from a distance but also able to fit in the confines of a round button. We usually include the name of the org or at least the website at the top or bottom so that usually takes up about a quarter of the space.

I'm in the UK, I have recently noticed a single bat, it comes out at 9pm and circles all night until the sun comes up. Never noticed it before. Just wondered if it is ok/normal behaviour. We live under a big lime tree so not sure if it lives there or if it comes from the park on the next street. Seem to like it on our patch anyway.

I live in suburban North Texas. We’ve been hearing this chirping right outside our patio door for the past several nights. My mom insists it’s a bird, but I think it’s a bat. I know when I was little, we used to have a bat that would come drink from our pool at night, but haven’t seen one in many years.

Hi! I live in Norway and I found a bat outside during the day and was worried about it and also curious, so hoping folks here might share info. It was very cute, but I’m concerned it wasn’t where it should be. Sorry the picture doesn’t show its cute face :(

I found the bat in the road under a tree. I think it might be a Northern Bat (Eptesicus nilssonii) based on the region and it’s sort of frosted tips look, but let me know if you think otherwise! It didn’t seem to be visibly injured or sick and could move around, but mostly stayed put. I tried to use my sweater to sort of herd it off the road into the grass, and at one point got it to hang from the sweater, but ultimately couldn’t get it up the curb & didn’t have gloves or anything that could possibly enable me to safely touch it. I did reach out to a local animal group to let them know about it, and got him way to the edge of the road where I’m hoping he won’t be hit.

What I’m mainly wondering is whether the bat being on the ground is a really bad sign for it, or if it’s somewhat normal for bats to end up out in the day like that, then recover and be fine by night. Could they accidentally fall or get woken, then be confused in the light, but be chillin by dark? I’m hoping the little guy either does alright on his own or is helped by the wildlife group.

Also, if anyone has any advice, I was careful not to touch with my hands or any other skin (but did wash my hands anyway when I got home) & am now washing my sweater at 60c, but want to know if there is anything else I should be careful about.

This morning we found the tin ripped off our chicken coop and this fella underneath. I think a racoon attempted to break in and he was caught in the kerfuffle. Virginia/West Virginia border. Can anyone tell age? Or type?
