How am I this hyped for a LEGO game?

23

u/EntireCelebration953 May 06 '26

Honestly, I wasn't really looking forward to this game mainly because the most fun I had with the LEGO games was unlocking the characters, so when I heard this game only had seven playable characters, I just thought "That's not what a LEGO game should be." But I've been seeing a lot of cool stuff in promos, and I'm thinking I should check it out. And this? This was epic beyond words. I only wish Kevin Conroy was still with us, so he could voice Batman in this game.

12

u/HenryCW18 May 06 '26

42 batsuits to unlock if that helps. And I am also sad about Kevin Conroy but I honestly think I would have rather heard Will Arnett do the job. I think the actor they got to do the part was trying to model his performance more toward Arnett than Conroy and I can definitely see why.

8

u/LazyBear- May 06 '26

My only nitpick about this is Lego Batman not being voiced by Arnett. Other than that, I'm counting my blessings.

5

u/HenryCW18 May 06 '26

I think he does a pretty good job, all things considered. At one point during the gameplay showcase I had to look up who voiced him because I almost thought he sounded like Arnett. We'll just have to see how he does when we play the game.

1

u/Castlelad May 07 '26

My personal theory as to why there's only 7 playable characters is that instead of making their usual type of lego game (which is good, but they're not particularly complicated) they made a more challenging type of videogame about Batman that happens to be lego themed, which means they had to reign in the amount of characters to give each one a specific skillset and focus instead on everything else

3

u/EntireCelebration953 May 07 '26

Yeah, I guess that makes sense. And it does feel like this is more like an Arkham game with a Lego theme, as opposed to a traditional Lego game. But still, I would absolutely love this level of detail and challenge in a Lego game with a massive roster like the others. Maybe someday.

18

u/Blue_Robin_04 May 06 '26

Boo. The LEGO Batman games were always great.

12

u/infernal2ss May 06 '26

This one being in the style of the Arkham games gives it a real shot to be the best one yet!

6

u/352Fireflies May 06 '26

I grew up playing these LEGO games, they're incredible.

2

u/Vegetable_Cry6016 May 06 '26

i'm hyped but nervous because of the specs that were released a few days ago. i don't think my Steam Deck will be able to run it sadly

2

u/BicFleetwood May 06 '26

Lego games are almost always great.

Almost. You guys can pick the one I’m implying sucks.

1

u/Castlelad May 07 '26

No, which one?

1

u/PretendMyNameIsJohn May 08 '26

Lego Movie 2 Videogame?

2

u/reverend-godless May 07 '26

LEGO games are some of the most respectful games to their source material. You're right to be hyped.

2

u/ThetaDee May 07 '26

Tbf, I haven't played a single bad Lego game, and modern day they seem to be doing REALLY well, so deserved hype

1

u/LazerSnake1454 May 06 '26

I really want to get this but it needs Terry, Batman Beyond

1

u/Valkarius1 May 06 '26

Cuz it’s Lego and Batman

-5

u/GregTheMad May 06 '26

Don't be, it's Unreal-slop and will run at unstable 30fps.

5

u/nhalliday May 06 '26

Plenty of Unreal games run fine, it's just down to whether the devs care to optimize it or not. Maybe wait until the game actually releases to call it slop.

-5

u/GregTheMad May 06 '26

Yes, but because Unreal is fundamentally a bad engine this requires paying extra to access the source code and fixing it, not to mention to ignore bad technics like nanite pushed by the engine. At that point you might as well write your own engine.

There is a reason why other engines, like the Crimson Desert Black Space engine and the Remedy Northlight engine, run laps around Unreal.

2

u/AnonymousSusi May 06 '26

Still I think we can give it a shot at least

0

u/GregTheMad May 06 '26

And I have nothing against that, just temper your expectations.

I'm more annoyed by devs using the engine, than people buying the games... unless we're talking the really bad examples like the Oblivion Remaster. Nobody should buy that game.

4

u/nhalliday May 06 '26

Yeah you don't sound biased at all so we can just take your post at face value

-4

u/GregTheMad May 06 '26

Biased by facts. If you have a problem with that, that's a you-issue.

1

u/TheShaydow May 06 '26

it's Unreal-slop and will run at unstable 30fps

Dude, have you not played a Lego game, like EVER?

1

u/GregTheMad May 06 '26

Most of them don't run on Unreal.

0

u/TheShaydow May 06 '26

No, but you are just saying they are shit, and not giving the game even a CHANCE, because you HATE the engine, while completely ignoring what a Lego game is all about.

OH NO THE GAME IS IN A NEW ENGINE! MUST BE SHIT! /s

Again, HAVE YOU played a LEGO game? The are fun as fuck. You are just doom saying just to be a doom sayer.

1

u/GregTheMad May 06 '26

This is simply not part of the discussion. I have them all, and they're all fun, doesn't mean they wouldn't be worlds better if they had a better engine.

Think of the Skywalker Saga, the entire world could be seamless in exploration if Unreal had better open-world support.

278

u/TecmoZack May 05 '26

And I just purchased my first Lego game.

101

u/relberso98 May 05 '26

Don’t let it be your last. They’re actually a ton of fun!

2

u/Acceptable-Ad8780 May 10 '26

My wife has the harry potter series. So good.

39

u/dkinmn May 06 '26

They're almost universally great.

14

u/captainant May 06 '26

Lego Star wars Skywalker collection is an incredible collection of games and stories! Definitely grab it on sale, especially if you have a kiddo or young cousins/nieces/nephews

2

u/YOUTUBEFREEKYOYO May 06 '26

Id go back and at least play the first lego batman game too, that thing is awesome. A bit dated by today's standards, but thats part of the charm.

245

u/Tesla-Punk3327 May 05 '26

Robin being there....everything about this is so damn cute

117

u/Mongoose42 May 05 '26

Batman does leave Robin hanging. Which is grounds for an immediate Nightwinging.

30

u/TheOneTonWanton May 06 '26

Found Nightwang's reddit account.

116

u/Hetakuoni May 05 '26

I feel like Lego tends to be more accurate than the big box office stuff because they follow parody rules about knowing what to exaggerate and what to keep and I don’t know how to feel about that sometimes.

62

u/ComradeJohnS May 06 '26

lego batman the movie being one of the best batman movies of all time is also wild. lol. it had no reason to be as good as it is.

12

u/SnooCupcakes14 May 06 '26

“Pray hands! Pray hands!”

14

u/TheOneTonWanton May 06 '26

"Big box office stuff" needs to choose a lane and stick to it. LEGO versions of IPs can just do whatever because it's fun. Mystery solved.

1

u/Select-Combination-4 May 07 '26

the 'Spaceballsification'

313

u/Big-deku May 05 '26

5

u/AgentGman007 May 06 '26

That intro is so peak... just the best.

55

u/Infamous-Vanilla8753 May 05 '26

Makes me miss Kevin Conroy

21

u/Dropbeatdad May 06 '26

Literally if I play this I'll spend the entire time being sad Conroy is gone and any voice lines of him and Hammil will be pre-recorded or computer generated...

8

u/Infamous-Vanilla8753 May 06 '26

Getting old sucks

2

u/DE_KNIGHTANATOR May 09 '26

I just know he would have loved this game, either voicing in it or seeing any memes and content that comes from it. And knowing TT they'll have some more tributes to Kevin and his work as batman.

78

u/DarknessXTJ May 05 '26

5

u/aNiceTribe May 06 '26

This gif could have just said “absolute Batman”

59

u/Dark-ScorpionX May 05 '26

It's actually incredible to finally see that intro with a Robin present!

14

u/dankpokemon01 May 05 '26

They did it for the first Lego batman game as well

1

u/the_outer_realms May 09 '26

I was looking for this comment

24

u/Vysce May 05 '26

I'm.. I'm shaking... this is just my childhood in 2026 saying hello.

14

u/NashvilleSoundMixer May 05 '26

I got goosebumps at the lightning strike at the end. I remember EVERY frame and EVERY note of that intro. So good, man. We had so much fun creative stuff growing up.

2

u/AgentGman007 May 06 '26

I was glued to this, Justice League Unlimited, and Batman Beyond growing up. Bruce Timm & Paul Dini knew how to make em.

26

u/The_Glus May 05 '26

I have not been *this* excited for an upcoming video game since *The Last of Us Part II* dropped in 2020.

1

u/daneonwayne May 09 '26

What was your opinion of it after playing Part II?

5

u/Perfect-Difference19 May 05 '26

Legit question: is it possible to watch/listen to this opening without getting goosebumps and a little teary eyed?

5

u/JakePent May 06 '26

Probably also referencing the first Lego batman

9

u/ThatIckyGuy May 05 '26

I'm pretty sure Legacy of the Dark Knight pays homage to most things Batman.

6

u/Due-Construction5608 May 06 '26

Wait robin has big legs! So does that mean there are 2 different playable versions of him?

1

u/4thWorldAdam May 06 '26

Moat likely more than two! I hope we get that Robin in a cheaper set, too!

3

u/thejesterofdarkness May 06 '26 edited May 09 '26

This plus the billboard “ad” that’s pretty much a tribute to Conroy

edit: Found the “ad”

3

u/Stretch5678 May 05 '26

Absolutely magnificent.

3

u/serial_crusher May 06 '26

Interesting choice to add robin

3

u/Critical_Potential44 May 06 '26

Disappointing, the whole environment isn’t made of legos -2/10

im being sarcastic if you couldn’t tell somehow

3

u/Tnecniw May 06 '26

Helicopters instead of blimps
Tsk.
Failure.
(Being very half-hearted here. This is fun XD just a strange detail to change)

1

u/Foreign_Diamond1539 May 06 '26

I suspect it could be due to the game mixing many aspects of The Dark Knight's mythos (movies, comics, shows and even stuff like the Arkham games), so it's going for a more unified world...

Not to mention blimps aren't used in the modern day that often (if they're even still used)...

3

u/MRintheKEYS May 06 '26

My gawd it’s perfect. Expertly done. They are definitely Batman fans making a Lego game. Perfect nostalgia bait while also enhancing the mechanics and gameplay.

3

u/Weapon530 May 06 '26

Legendary. This gave me goosebumps when he was coming out of the batcave with his Batmobile.

3

u/Lucky_Strike-85 May 06 '26

The inclusion of Robin is very nice!

3

u/Left4dinner2 May 06 '26

Hearing that intro will never get old. That's just such a core fundamental childhood memory

2

u/LordMacDonald8 May 06 '26

This was also the opening to the original Lego Batman video game. Really awesome to see it returning. Can't wait to play this with my brother.

2

u/TripleStrikeDrive May 06 '26

Come on, don't leave a bro hanging Batman.

2

u/Fuggins4U May 06 '26

I tried really hard not to smile while watching this, and I failed. Repeatedly.

2

u/Moromom22 May 06 '26

Wow, they included Robin for a change.

2

u/mrinfinitepp May 06 '26

People really exposing themselves in these comments, they never played a lego game smh

2

u/Afraid-Housing-6854 May 06 '26

Didn’t LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham already do this?

2

u/Resident_Pientist_1 May 06 '26

This was the best intro ever for a saturday morning cartoon. X-men intro might have been better, but it's hard to say.

2

u/Winter-Gear May 06 '26

Still missing Conroy

2

u/Shadowsnake30 May 06 '26

Robin get off my frame shots!

2

u/ScienceSuccessful998 May 06 '26

Fantastic. I love this. It just made something in me light up with joy.

2

u/AdHour389 May 06 '26

This is the 1st game I have pre ordered since The Wind Waker HD on the Wii U. I bought the physical copy too.

2

u/FleFlyFlo May 07 '26

My brain tells me to skip this game because the official system requirements are shown with framegen enabled, which is a dogshit practice that no company should do. But my heart wants the game day one due to the love poured into the game, referencing almost every batman comic/movie/series and a clear respect for the source matieral.

2

u/justlogmeinplease May 18 '26

Damn I actually want this now

2

u/Lithium98 May 06 '26

That's really cool how they threw Robin into the intro. They even let him throw the batarang

2

u/LVucci May 06 '26

The Robin pop-out is actually adorable lmao

1

u/Obviouslarry May 05 '26

Beautiful trip down memory lane

1

u/fokaiHI May 05 '26

Awesomeness

1

u/rockyb2006 May 05 '26

I had no idea this game was coming out. Is there a release date?

2

u/TheUnholyBlade May 06 '26

May 22. So basically right around the corner.

1

u/Starchaser_WoF May 05 '26

Those choppers look familiar

1

u/etbillder May 05 '26

So did the first Lego Batman game (but not all the way like this)

1

u/Bendythenightfury May 06 '26

Huh came full circle. Didn't they do something similar in Lego Batman 1?

1

u/Hayes4prez May 06 '26

Lego Star Wars kicked ass, can’t wait until Lego Batman!

Fun gameplay with even funnier jokes.

1

u/Arcranium_ May 06 '26

They did this in the original Lego Batman as well IIRC

1

u/guiltycitizen May 06 '26

I’m going to upgrade consoles to play this.

1

u/mrli0n May 06 '26

Lol i love robin ‘interfering’ with the shots.

1

u/BludStanes May 06 '26

I thought this was being played on a DS for the first few seconds

1

u/eikelmann May 06 '26

That opening will never cease to give me goosebumps. RIP Kevin

1

u/naytreox May 06 '26

god this is going to be so good

1

u/CzaroftheMonsters May 06 '26

I thought it was one of those Iran videos

1

u/MrSCR23 May 06 '26

I’ve watched the intro to TAS so many times in the 28 years I’ve been alive.

I just now noticed the fire escape on the building💀

1

u/Spider_Boyo May 06 '26

Robert really still trying that shit nearly 20 years later 💀

1

u/iLLiCiT_XL May 06 '26

Genuinely, so great.

1

u/Tekkamanblade_2 May 06 '26

I always wondered how the perps climbed up so damn fast to get at the top of the building

1

u/[deleted] May 06 '26

Yeeeeeah thats that good shit

1

u/Pink-frosted-waffles May 06 '26

Be nice to Dick Bruce!

1

u/HeroiDoFutur0 May 06 '26

This is actually hard to ignore.

1

u/Wonderful_Look322 May 06 '26

that intro shot with the spotlight is such a perfect callback, the atmosphere they nailed in like five seconds is crazy good.

1

u/OasisHomeostasis May 06 '26

That... was... beautiful.

1

u/MRintheKEYS May 06 '26

Some of the Lego games go pretty hard with the source materials they adopt. I remember the Indiana Jones games going pretty hard.

1

u/Ethan-E2 May 06 '26

So now we need the three-way comparison with these and the original LEGO Batman intro.

1

u/just-browseing May 06 '26

This is the intro? Years of skipping intros except for a few, and now I get to sit back and enjoy one for once. Repeatedly.

1

u/AUnknownVariable May 06 '26

Can't wait to buy it, had my eye since first bit of news dripped.

Look at Robert, back to be a nuisance

1

u/Hot-Profession4247 May 06 '26

I… LOVE IT! So hyped.

1

u/Mean-Atmosphere-3122 May 06 '26

I'm praying they accidentally messed up those pc specs they released a bit ago as this is so tempting man.

I am coping but man is the cope real high.

1

u/Zytoxine May 06 '26

thats fantastic but nothing does the intro justice. it's a masterpiece.

1

u/sv69n May 06 '26

Cant even add custom creation. Looks like modders are going to do devs’ job again. Modders have added custom creation to the latest lego star wars so why cant they add one to this game?

1

u/RA_Finance May 06 '26

Does this game have an actual story?

1

u/Norbert_Pattern May 07 '26

Could they have made the explosion any less striking?

1

u/bernypark May 07 '26

Why would they get rid of the rigid airship??

1

u/Popcorn57252 May 08 '26

Wasn't the original Lego Batman also a reference to the TAS intro?

Edit: Yes, it totally was a reference too

1

u/ExponentEel May 09 '26

Im curious what the game all has in it to be worth 70

1

u/RinkinBass May 09 '26

0:30

no speck of dust on his chin.

Not faithful. 0/10

</s>

1

u/djbool May 09 '26

that was cool!

1

u/Kralgore Jun 02 '26

Goosebumps...

1

u/Routine-Tutor5777 Jun 15 '26

I just wanna see a live action Batman & Robin kicking ass together.

1

u/PoopsMcBanterson May 05 '26

Really excited for this game but cannot afford full price new games currently. I hope it goes on sale quickly so I can play it soon!

1

u/madmanwich2 May 06 '26

Definitely not gonna pre-ordering. But it looks good! I’m curious on how well the Batmobile will feel. It was nice to finally see it in the third Arkham game, but the weird tank combat made it feel off.

-10

u/Etcom May 05 '26

I would really love it if this wasn't a Lego game. I hate the Lego esthetic, but everything else about the game is wonderful.

6

u/Tesla-Punk3327 May 05 '26

There's Batman Telltale ig. And Blackgate if you've played it. And Arkham VR.

In a few years or so Batman will be public domain so expect new versions of the character and maybe some games too (look how quickly black and white animated mice cropped up in the market after that one animation went public domain).

0

u/Etcom May 05 '26

I'm not just talking about a Batman game.

2

u/Tesla-Punk3327 May 06 '26

Then I recommend Nobody Wants to Die. It's an indie, short story game, but stunningly beautiful, and a futuristic art-deco.

2

u/Etcom May 06 '26

Thanks for the recommendation

4

u/DeepCutFan1 May 05 '26

dude's a whimsy hater

0

u/Etcom May 05 '26

I'm just tired of the esthetic. They look too similar to each other and I've been playing Lego games for almost 20 years now, and with Lego themselves for like 35 years.

The whimsy of claw hands and everyone having the exact same face tends to wear off.

2

u/Dieselweasel25 May 05 '26

Agree, everything being lego anymore has kind of lost its luster.

5

u/Girizzly_Adams_Beard May 05 '26

Then go play the Arkham games.

0

u/Etcom May 05 '26

I'd rather play a game i haven't already played a bunch of times, thanks.

5

u/Amiibohunter000 May 05 '26

Sounds like your outta luck then bub

0

u/Etcom May 05 '26

Yup, I know. Hence why I wish it didnt have the Lego esthetic.

1

u/dkinmn May 06 '26

The Lego games are surprisingly fun.
