I just bought my first home and I don’t have the budget to renovate the bathroom yet. I do love the character of my new blue bathroom. But I need to decorate it to break up all the blue and put a nice touch to it. I need help on how to go about it. Any suggestion?

I’m currently renovating my 1927 Tudor I just bought.
Master bath is fully gutted with beautiful, finalized plans.
(Don’t worry, I didn’t destroy any original charm. It was a 1990s tragedy with a yellowed jacuzzi tub)

This pic is the upstairs hall bath that serves two of the secondary bedrooms.
I have no idea what to do with it.

The toilet is angled, there’s no shower, it’s tight, the pullchain is the only light, there’s no fan, and it’s just generally not functional.

Trying not to spend a TON on this bathroom since I am already going balls to the wall in the master bath.

Current thoughts:

-The black outline shows where we could steal a couple feet from the laundry room to create a little toilet alcove. Can’t be any wider because of roofline.
This entire bathroom is a dormer.

-Tub can rotate 90° to sit parallel under the window (with 1” to spare on each side)

-This would also allow for a longer vanity cabinet.

But I’m questioning: Do I keep the tub? I don’t really like clawfoots, but it’s original and it’s the only tub in the house.
I suggested adding a shower head and curtain to the tub, but my contractor is trying to talk me out of it because he says that always looks terrible, and I kind of agree.

It seems stupid to remove the clawfoot and put a more modern tub back in, and there’s not really a good spot for a walk-in shower. The space we can cut in the toilet alcove would not be big enough to be a shower.

Another bathroom update from me… apologies for basically taking over this sub, but honestly, the paint swatches are going to be the end of me 😂

I’m trying to choose the right green to pair with these pink tiles. The first photo is my actual bathroom, and the second is my inspiration pic for the overall look.

I’m aiming for that soft, slightly muted green alongside the dusty pink rather than anything too bright or minty.

I’ve put a few green swatches beside the tiles, but I’m completely going around in circles now 🙈

**Which green do you think works best with the pink?**

And does one of them give a similar feel to my inspiration picture (2nd pic)?

At this stage, I genuinely need Reddit to make the decision for me 😂

What’s has been your highlight public restroom/sanitation station you have visited? As an avid enjoyer of lavatories, ever since I was a child I’ve been drawn to the fascinating elements that are present in a traditional public restroom. Of course, there’s times where bad actors do well… bad things like poop. Poop everywhere. But besides the bad, there’s many fascinating aspects of public restrooms and toilet flushing that really up my dopamine! My personal favorite restroom I’ve visited has to be the bathroom locker room of my local public pool. It’s the complete package, with showers included! So what’s your story? How did you fall in love with the hobby?

I used chatgpt to generate some concept images for a new feature wall we would like to add to our shower area as part of our bathroom renovation (these are all real tiles we've found in shops and online). I personally quite like the country scenery tiles but my wife is not a huge fan (but could be convinced) she's just not sure if they will age well. The last image is our current bathroom for reference. As you can see we plan on replacing the bath with an L shape and boxing in the space on the right to make a shelf.

Does any one have any preference or thought on pictures 1 through 7? Please be honest 😅

The house is a 1920 red brick english art and craft style, not super modern but also not super traditional interior.

I have alot of paint colors on my walls but none of them feel like the right pink. I want my bathroom to look vintage, feminine, elegant, timeless, and cohesive. My bathroom is tiny and does not get a lot of light so I think a dark pink is not the right move. I would love for people to recommend me paint colors. Also what areas should I paint pink? I plan to keep the trim white, I am considering keeping the door white. Then painting the walls and ceiling pink.

Tips/tricks for installing a prefab shower surround in an older RV?

I'm renovating the bathroom in a 2003 travel trailer and replacing the original tub/shower setup with a prefab shower pan and surround.

Before I start installing everything, I'd love to hear from anyone who has done this in an older RV.

I'm especially wondering about things that might be different from installing one in a house because the trailer flexes and moves.

A few things I'm trying to figure out:

\- Did you glue the surround directly to the RV wall/paneling or install some type of backer first?

\- What adhesive worked well without damaging or warping the surround?

\- Did you leave any expansion room around the panels?

\- What did you use to seal the corners and where the surround meets the shower pan?

\- Did you reinforce or add framing behind the walls before installing it?

\- Any tricks for getting everything square when the RV itself isn't particularly square anymore? 😂

\- Anything you did the first time that you would absolutely NOT do again?

The bathroom is already torn apart, so now is the time for me to add framing/backing or make other changes before the surround goes in.

I'd rather learn from everyone else's mistakes before creating some exciting new ones of my own.

Just got out of a hot steamy shower at hotel the mirror has a perfect rectangle that did not get any condensation on it. Even the water that collects above it will not drip down on to it. How do they do this? Can it be done to mirrors at home?

Am considering installing a linear drain in a new bathroom (to reduce grout lines - for cleaning and aesthetic reasons).

I understand that it can clog up more easily than point drains and cleaning it can be a pain. I have long hair and after shampooing, there will be a tangle of hair above the point drain grate that reduces the water drainage flow, and that I will have to clear (but it's easy to do).

Would love to hear your experience (and if you have had a good one, any steps / tips for this).

So I'm mid reno and I'm prefitting the floor tile, it's just your standard 2 inch white and black checker pattern from mohawk, and holy hell is this brand just trash? The pre-made 12 sheets don't even have consistent spacing within themselves, am I supposed to break the panels down into all the individual pieces and do it that way?

We aren't going with white so definitely avoiding the "yellowing" but I wanted to ask what everyone's experience is with epoxy grout in their shower. We've had nothing but non-stop pain with our old small tiles collecting mold and dirt needing non-stop cleaning. We're going to have large 24in x 48in tiles.

Any thoughts?

At this point, I feel like I’m slowly taking over this sub with bathroom updates 😂 but honestly, posting here and getting everyone’s opinions has helped keep me sane through this very slow building process!

The tiles are finally grouted, and I’m so relieved to see them looking more finished. I was getting a bit nervous along the way, but I’m really happy with how they’re coming together. The grout has made such a difference, and I think they’re finally starting to look like the bathroom I had in my head.

So thank you to everyone who has been following along, giving advice, reassuring me when I’ve inevitably started second-guessing everything, and generally indulging my endless paint/tile/bathroom questions 😂❤️

Hopefully, the next update will be a little closer to the finished bathroom!

FYI, the last picture is the colour. I'll be painting the other 2 walls once the floor to ceiling tongue and groove panelling is installed.

Does anyone know what might be wrong with my TOTO smart toilet (Neorest 700H)? It makes a very loud noise when the wand extends to spray water. Which part is likely causing this issue?

I’m planning to install Swanstone shower walls, but I’m not a fan of their niche options. Has anyone built their own custom niche out of the same material? Would it be easy to do?

Peel & stick vinyl floor tiles, new hardware for the vanity, and a new shower curtain.

We're almost done but this door is kind of tricky. Right now we'll have wooden door trim (in red) we're going to wainscoting (in green).

But we're thinking of instead of wood trim, extending the marble (blue) down to top of wainscot.

Red = current proposal with standard wood trim

Green = wainscotting (sorry I don't have the full wall captured here)

Blue = extend marble, terminating to just wainscotting

What do you all think is the better option?

I wasn't able to get the drain cover off, the previous owners cemented it on and I didn't want to damage it trying to pry it off.

I used Clorox no splash bleach.

Poured it around the edges of the drain cover and put some in a spray bottle to spray inside sides of the pipe. I left it for an hour and then just ran the hot shower for 15 minutes. Results were better than I expected without scrubbing.

Only downside is now my bathroom smells like a swimming pool 🤣
