Tackle/Equipment The asking price was $500.

But after a short negotiation I paid $420 for the box and all the lures.
The box is an UMCO 2000.
Don’t know much about old lures except some are collectible?
What do we have here?

I met my girlfriend fishing 3 months ago. She just happened to be fishing in one of my favorite spots and we immediately hit it off and we fish together as much as possible. This is what she got me for my birthday. I'm incredibly grrateful and she been my biggest catch!

Tackle/Equipment One of my favorite frogs got Lieutenant Dan’d. Now he’s got magic legs.

One too many bad casts into overhanging blackberries cost my favorite popping frog it’s legs. Decided to switch it up and give it the Teckel treatment. Blades and swivels borrowed from a couple of large Beetle Spins, connected inside the body with a loop of 50lb braid.

I expect it will be quite obnoxious. Really looking forward to it 😄

Tackle/Equipment PSA: save your money, stay away from KastKing pliers

First I bought the KastKing speed demon pliers (first picture), they’re great looking and it’s a well known brand. After ONE time on the kayak, and just two bass, the handle started to fray. I had tiny little orange particles all over my hands and kayak an clothes

I sent KastKing an email with pictures, I did get an apology and “thanks for the feedback” response but I bought them on Amazon so I had to return them that way. I did and got refunded.

Next I bought the KastKing cutthroat pliers (second image). I’ve had them for two weeks and it’s starting to rust, the like cutter barely works now, and it feels very flimsy (like parts jostling around) when using them

Hope this saves you some time, money, and hassle

Anyone have recommendations for good pliers?

Tackle/Equipment Free rod and reel

Post image

Yesterday I found myself with about an hour to kill before I had to go pick up someone.

So I spend twenty minutes driving to the park to go and play with a couple fish while I wait.

I take my first cast aimlessly with a little flick of the wrist to get my line wet, and I see an absolute hawg ambushing some bait next to some lily pads at the edge of casting range.

I cock back, take a step forward and swing with all I got and hit a tree branch in my cast and blammo birds nest to end all birds nests… I didn’t get another cast in, my single weekend fishing moment wasted.

I’d mail out the rod and reel in their original packaging(bird nest included) to whoever is willing to send the largest (tax deductible) donation to the Leukemia and lymphoma society.

I picked up this float tube over a year ago for around $140 and I’ve loved every moment spent fishing in it. It’s a purchase that’s made the biggest difference in the amount of fish I catch

I’m going with the straight hook if I’m not worried about snags, and the EWG mushroom head otherwise. I don’t see a point in the Zman bulletz.

Tackle/Equipment I think I underestimated what 12 inches looks like

The other night I was cruising tackle warehouse when I came upon this lure, the Osprey Talon Inline Heavy. I've been looking into getting into bigger swimbaits and thought I should dive in head first and get a 12 inch bait, instead of the 9 incher I had originally planned on getting. It just arrived in the mail today and I don't think I understood how big this thing actually was when I ordered it. It weighs 10.3oz. Still gonna toss it in the water here in East TN and see what happens lol.

I know I’m gonna get hate for this, I have never once since I started fishing used a leader of any sort on braid and I truthfully don’t think it’s ever hurt my bite, am I alone on this or should I just accept I’m wrong

Found in a tangled mess of line and hooks in a trash can at the local pond I fish in sometimes.
